Possible Solution to DirecTV's App streaming issues on Samsung smart TV's

I've been researching for around two months as I'm sure many others that have the same issues have. Why there hasn't been a unified resolve between DirecTV' and Samsung is beyond me.

However:

When it comes to Samsung, the DNS configuration can impede viewing when using the app. These settings route you to the proper servers to access the service. If these settings do not match your internet providers recommendations, then this may cause the issues you are experiencing on the Samsung. Also, IPv4 and IPv6 protocols can impede viewing as these are used to communicate with backbone servers. Ensuring that DNS configurations match the ISP and having both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols enabled will allow for better communication between your device and the servers which potentially could prevent the interruptions you are experiencing. To ensure this set-up is correct on your network, you would need to have your router settings to obtain the the actual DNS servers IP Addresses.

Rather than call your ISP, If you can,  access your router to view the internet DNS settings, and then manually enter that same DNS setting into your Samsung TV Network connection where the setting default is set to "Obtain Automatically."

Hopefully if others are having this same issue, this will resolve your problem.

1. Log into your Gateway router to view Broadband > Status > Primary DNS.

2. On your Samsung TV: Settings > General > Network > Network Status > IP Settings > DNS Setting. (Switched it from Auto to Manual). Entered in the Primary DNS number from your Gateway Router.

In a Special Note; It seems the Paramount+ App is also having issues and this just might help with the issues there.

For additional Public DNS Servers:

https://tunecomp.net/google-dns-8-8-8-8/

These are Google's DNS Servers. I you use them you will need to enter them in your Gateway configuration as well as you Samsung's TV's network configuration if you are using the manual setting method for the Samsung Network.

You can also use Google's DNS Servers in you Gateway without doing anything to your Samsung TV's network.

@g_mingolelli , I personally do not see the worth of your suggestions:

1) If the TV is using automatic, it's getting the DNS servers from the Gateway, so manually copying that information over seems pointless.

2) If you decide to change your TV to use other DNS servers, there is no reason that you would have to change your ISP gateway's DNS servers to match (assuming that your ISP lets you).

Statically setting the DNS minimizes routing and ping times.

The Samsung TV DTV Stream app is just flat out bad.  Changing DNS settings or whatever has nothing to do with the poor development and performance of the app. Also you should not have to resort to doing any of that. The default setting should work fine, but the app just flat out terrible.

'fraid not.  When the DHCP request goes to the Gateway, the DNS IP address is provided at that time.  You're not saving any steps by manually loading it.

You could be improving or making things worse, by changing the DNS server to something other than what your ISP provides, but that's a whole different story.

WRT the question "Why there hasn't been a unified resolve between DirecTV' and Samsung is beyond me." - it is almost certain that Samsung doesn't care that much and wouldn't get involved.  They might provide some support for a third-party app developer, but except for a few "core" apps (like Netflix, who they may have actually paid to develop an app for their platform), they are unlikely to devote a lot of resources, especially for apps with relatively small demand, like the DirecTV Stream app.  (Samsung can't even be bothered to backport their own software to previous model year TVs - they aren't going to worry about apps that aren't going to significantly impact how many new TVs they sell...)

I've been making contact with main Stream Media: ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX

Seeking to get an Investigative Reporter to do a Special Interest Story about how many of us have cut the cord only to be left in a quagmire of non or partially functional Services.

The Services sell us on their packages and more than 50% of the Subscriber Base has problems that continue to go unanswered.

Good luck. Let us know how that works out.

Many platforms are experiencing the same problems. You would think someone would have identified a common denominator by now.

Nothing like the Samsung App issues, though.

No issues with my Rokus or FireStick. And there's no LG DirecTV Stream App.

@g_mingolelli Fake news about extensive Dtv stream issues. I have a Dtv stream box, firestick, and a side loaded android tv box and the service works fine. Zero issues for me.
