Problem pausing or fast forwarding a recorded program on Roku
When I want to watch a sporting event that has already started and is being recorded in my DVR, I go in my library and select the event which is currently recording but not finished yet. The recording will start from the beginning of the event as normal, but if I try to fast forward or pause ect... the controls seem to freeze up or it will stick on FF until it catches up with live and will not allow you to control the recording any longer. I have to exit back out and start the recording all over again. I am using a Roku box with Direct tv stream and have not had any issues until the last couple of weeks. Thanks.

BTW, I posted a work around earlier in the thread. I have used it several times and it has worked every time. After you hit play, hit the Roku back button to back out to the main screen. The show you pressed play on will still be playing, but now everything functions properly.

Haven’t had the occasion to try it yet but thanks for the info. Still seems like a DIRECTV issue to solve.

Have the same problem and doesn’t matter what remote I use including the phone app for Roku. This ONLY happens on Directv stream - all other apps work fine.

I'm having the same issue as you and others and have tried the same suggested solutions. This is not happening any other streaming service through my Roku. It started around Christmas time 2022.

We have this problem with previously recorded programs that are NOT in progress too. Have also tried deleting most of recorded shows from cloud DVR (even though we have unlimited capacity cloud DVR in theory), re-installing the Direct TV Stream app, pairing the remote. I occasionally we get a recording to work ok after a while, even an ongoing recording, but not usually. This happens with both a Roku Ultra and a Roku stick. This does not happen with other streaming services including (Direct TV competition) Spectrum TV streaming DVR. Never had this issue with Fubo, YouTube TV cloud based DVR recordings either. Direct TV Stream started doing this in December I think (could be earlier?).

Recorded KC-Jacksonville nfl playoff game earlier today. FF, Pause, or REW not working. Has happened multiple times lately...especially on sporting events. Is Directv stream or the NFL forcing us to watch the commercials, or is something else happening here?

Finally gave up after a month of problems with fast forward, rewind, pause during sporting events and purchased a Directv stream box. It was reconditioned on ebay for $40 dollars. Hooked it up today and works perfect on every sporting event and recording I could find. Tried the Roku again and it still has the same problems. I guess this glitch has to be something with the Directv software not working with the Roku software. Not sure if it's on purpose to make everyone buy the Directv box or not.

Per the previous workaround posted here, pushing back 5 times after starting a recorded show makes everything work fine for me for the rest of the recording. Stinks, but I'm not as annoyed any more.

We have been having the same issue for a month or so on our Directv Stream app on our Roku Tv. It seems to be, as mentioned previously, mostly with sporting events. We have restarted app and also deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times.
We have an AppleTV box in the bedroom that seems to be fine, so I think it is isolated to Roku.
I have a Google Chromecast device that I am about to plug in and try instead. It’s aggravating as now we will have to use 2 separate remotes for the living room TV- it’s hard enough to not lose one!
@DIRECTVhelp PLEASE fix this bug issue!
