Questions about number of streaming on Out-of-home devices
Per DTV stream FAQ
Watch on the go
A maximum of 3 streaming devices can be accessed out of home. (3 devices)
Keep in mind: Only 2 streaming devices connected to a TV can be accessed out of the home. ex: 1 DIRECTV STREAM device and 1 Firestick. (2 TV-devices)
1. PC or laptop, any OS (Wins/Mac/Linux)
1.1 a device or TV-device?
1.2 what if use cable (HDMI/DVI/RGB) connect to TV as its screen?
2. max 3 devices (mobile/tablet)
2.1 use Airplay or cast to 1/2/3 TVs?
2.2 use cable connect to 1/2/3 TVs?
3. max 2 TV-devices
3.1 use network app (Starz, ESPN,..) to do PiP = 2 streams on 1 TV and use another TV-device at same time?
4. Can you login DTV stream on more than 3 devices ie. 3 phones and 3 tablets
so you can pick any 2 of them later to stream outside?
Thank you for your time!

1.) A PC or laptop streaming online at DIRECTV.com has a maximum of three streams.
1.1) It counts as a device and not a TV device (a laptop).
1.2) This definitely works. It won’t change any restrictions at all. All you are doing is mirroring your laptop to a TV via an HDMI cord, RGB (VGA) cord, or DVI. For a VGA or DVI cord, you’ll need a separate 3.5mm cord to retain sound as these two cables only carry video.
2.) YES.
2.1) Not sure on this phone. As far as casting if the app supports it then I don’t see why not. You may deal with copyright issues when streaming certain audio or video so this isn’t always the BEST method.
2.2) Yes, that works fine.
3.) Correct.
3.1) I don’t think any supported streaming devices have the power/bandwidth to do PiP. Unless, you have a certain monitor or TV that has this feature of two HDMI devices at the same time. Then, I don’t see why not. As far as the second TV, yes that would work fine whilst doing this.
4.) Yes, you can login to as many as you wish. The term ‘simultaneous’ means streaming at a given time, not logged in at a given time. So, what you are asking works fine.

Thanks detuch254 !
just to be sure
2.2 you can use 3 devices connecting to 3 TVs via its lightning/usb ports and streaming
3.1 Apple TV can do PiP ESPN (small window) and another app (whole screen) or 2 streams at the same time just fine (capable device)
but does it count as 2 streams already or not, so another TV-device can stream too?
Cheers!

2.2 YES. This would be connecting the devices to a TV (mirroring) via HDMI.
3.1 I don’t believe that counts as two streams as long as you are using the independent channel’s app. In this case, that would be ESPN for PiP. Then, you would only be penalized for the one regular stream of the DIRECTV STREAM app for the second half of PiP.

Forgot another important question
- Can you stream on 2 devices and 1 TV-device at the same time? (mix-n-match or just 3 devices only)

I assume that would work fine. Although, I’ve never tested that before.
