Record Red Sox from NESN specifically

We select Red Sox games from the NESN channel and record the series. But when we check our recordings, we see it recorded the game from a different channel: in this case, YESHDNY - recording the game from the NY Yankees perspective with their announcer. We don't want that, we want it from NESN (or ESPN).

Is there any way to force it to record from a specific channel? Or can I block channels I don't want it to record from?

@jer12983476129837461 All Dtv devices/apps are currently rolling out software to record specific Teams. That's what Dtv help means when they say record options. When you set a game to record the option to record your team will be offered. Check to see if your Dtv Stream app has an update on your Firetv. Or uninstall and reinstall the app my firestick got the update yesterday.

Hi @jer12983476129837461,

we want you to enjoy your services and the features of it.

Can you please let us know if you have DIRECTV satellite or DIRECTV STREAM?

If it's related to DIRECTV STREAM, to give you a hand on setting your favorite and specific shows to be recorded from your STREAM service, please have a look at this article with useful information on recordings, scheduling and managing within the DVR feature.

Please let us know how it goes.

It is Directv stream. This article explains how to initiate recordings as I have already done but doesn't explain how I might restrict the recording to a specific channel.

Got it! Thanks for elaborating your concern, @jer12983476129837461.

Most likely it is recording the other channel (YESHDNY) because what you want to record (NESN) is set with recording restrictions from the provider which prevents you from recording its programming. We can confirm if this situation falls the category mentioned above by creating a favorite list with NESN and trying to record from that list.

In case this scenario persist, the content might not be recordable because of content creator rights. We suggest you to check On Demand to see whether the programming you want to watch is available there.

Nesn is already on our favorites (and the YES network is not), but it still recorded from YES. Is there a specific way to force it to record from a favorite channel? As you said "trying to record from that list"

Thanks for keeping us updated, @jer12983476129837461. We understand this is important for you and want to help you to record your favorite games.

Please follow these steps to schedule an event or team recording and let us know how it goes.

1. Use remote control to find game in the Guide. Press Select.
2. Press Record Options.
3. Details of next screen include options to record team or event.
4. Press Select to Record this Game or Team.
5. Recording confirmation screen will appear.
6. Press OK, to return to live TV.

Where might I find a "record options" button? If I press record, I get a "recording set" notification at which I can either press "ok" or "record series".

We have been using the "record series" button.

As far as I can tell, we have no other options available.

@jer12983476129837461, just to make sure we're on the same page, are you trying to record content from a DIRECTV STREAM device?

Please let us know the device in which you usually record your programming, so we can help clear things up.

No, we are not. We have the DIRECTTV stream app on an Amazon Fire Cube. I'd happily use a Directtv stream device, I didn't know it existed - we subscribed to the service when it was still run by ATT. They had a device but they stopped supporting it I believe and told us to use the app instead.

Will a DIRECTTV stream device provide better options for recording? And, if so, how might I obtain one?

@Ludwick577 as far as I can tell this has resolved the issue. Of course this is after I bought a directv stream device at support's suggestion which I'm not thrilled about

I've use the apps and their Dtv Stream box. Their device is 100x better than any app. Got to have those numbers for channel changing and the buttons for the guide, list, previous channel and record. FF and rewind work better to vs apps.

I haven't actually taken it out of the box yet since finding the app update seemed to have worked. Maybe I'll give it a shot

Yes try it. You won't go back to the app.
