Recording a Show That Starts Late

I record "60 Minutes" so I can watch it later. Certain times of the year sports events running long cause it to start late. Last night I missed the last few minutes. When I had classic cable TV and TiVo I could add an hour to the scheduled recording, but DirecTV doesn't seem to support that. I tried to schedule the next show to record, but DirecTV seems to be smart enough to start recording that show when it actually begins, so I don't get the end of 60 Minutes. Is there any fix?
