Recording length

Still waiting for the ability or choice to be able to have a recording record past the ending time. Not all sports will go beyond the listed length of the program.  The big one for me is Auto racing. I need to keep up with it and record shows past the end of the normal time for the race to end. Most races do go past the listed time.  Every other service has this option when you setup a recording. Can't be that hard to setup.

Please fix this.

They're gradually expanding the new "auto-extend" recording feature for some sporting events. In the meantime, record whatever show airs after the sporting event to ensure you capture the whole thing.

While the auto-extend feature is nice, it doesn't solve the issue for the shows that follow the sporting event. My particular use case is the nightly news. Football games on Sunday generally push the newscast out by an indeterminate amount of time. When I had DTV Sat., I could just pad the news recording. With DTV Stream, I have to record the following show. When I am in bed, listening to the news, it is a pain to have to switch to the next show, plus it is additional cleanup of my recordings.

I also understand that in a cloud DVR, extending the recording of an arbitrary show is nontrivial compared to extending a recording on local media.

That depends on whether they use a common recording for all (as YouTube TV apparently does) or a unique copy per requester (as this service at least implied it did back in the early days under AT&T).  I don't know what they do now, but even with a common recording approach, it would certainly be possible, if more complex.  The issue is that it is a major limitation/problem that they don't provide it, and there is an expectation on the part of customers coming from (most) cable and satellite services (where that feature is present) that they can do so - so it would seem worth their while to provide it, regardless of the pain (cost) they suffer in implementation.
