Recording only the latest episode of a Series
Hello,
Here is my issue, I want to record Pardon the Interruption everyday on ESPN at 4:30 Central time only. This show is repeated several times during the day but I only want the new episode. What happens in when I look in the list, It shows many recording of all the episodes over the day, but no way to know from the list which is the original episode that aired at 4:30. I have it set to record only new episodes but it still records the other airings. What I have to do is start each episode until I find the original, watch it, then delete all the other episodes, this takes a lot of time and hurts my experience. Can I see the recording time before I watch or only record the original? This happens with other shows too, as many channels rerun episodes of shows during the week but I only want the first airing, maybe have a first airing option when setup the series recording.

Series recordings are very limited with DIRECTV STREAM. Your only choice in this case is manually recording the 4:30 CT airing of Pardon the Interruption on ESPN. That way, you record the show you want.

You’ll have to record it through the Guide. What streaming device? With DIRECTV STREAM device you need to press the Overflow button (...) and say record once.

You can set it to record thru the guide---or search the show and hit "view all episodes" then select the ones u want to record.

No, I never did. I have to setup the series recording and then sift through all the episodes until I find the latest episodes to watch. It's a real pain point for recommending the Stream service. I does not even say in the notes what time it was recorded, I actually have to the start the episode then realize it's not the right one, go back and start another until I find the latest one.

If a show is repeated and records several times----any of the shows are the original airing----same show just on a different time of the day. That's why it's called a repeat. Just watch one of them and delete the rest. OMG this is not brain science.

It’s the manual recording option that’s not “brain science.”
It's an extremely handy tool that is basic with other DVR services. Tivo for one. It's about convenience, right? I'd like to record our local news only on a Friday night when they go over the high school football scores this time of year. Recording the series on that one picks up about 8 hours of news programs every day. Sorry but I shouldn’t have to waste my time deleting all of them.
If there is a way to do that now, someone let me in on it. Otherwise, if anyone from DirectV is paying attention, please figure out how to offer it! Thanks.
