Remote

I did write a post about this God awful remote but it seems like it never posted. Who on earth designed it? Do they even have hands and fingers? The weight of it, the lopsided teardrop appearance and the placement of the buttons leads me to believe the designers don’t have hands. I can’t find a universal remote that works with this set box either.
Topping on the cake is that you have to set up an email account to use the microphone - and don’t get me started on the microphone - who developed the key words and why do you have to say an entire sentence just to get to a channel?
maybe the developer likes to hear their own voice yet the rest of the DirecTV world wants to say one word and get right to the point.
awful awful remote. Awful awful platform.
if my community didn’t force us into leaving Xfinity and go with this cheap version of media, I would still be with Xfinity. It wasn’t perfect but I didn’t have to wear a hand brace to use their remote. I could say one word to get to the channels and apps and the remote wasn’t bottom heavy.
you need to get some experienced remote designers. Give them remotes from other companies to hold and look at so they can get the idea of what it should look like.
I can’t say it enough. Poor poor design. Maybe if the design was better I would complain a bit less and might like like the tv a bit more.
I often opt not to watch tv at all because of the remote. The microphone doesn’t even understand the channels. Say go to Nickelodeon and it brings you to nicktoons. Say nick at night and it has no idea what I would want.

We appreciate your detailed feedback regarding the Gemini remote's design and voice functionality, @Dollyneans. Our remote is engineered to deliver the most integrated viewing experience, and we want to help ensure it functions optimally for you.

Voice Search & Phrasing: The microphone is built to process simple, single-word channel commands. If it is routing you incorrectly, re-syncing the remote typically fixes the recognition accuracy.
Account Requirements: While a Google account unlocks the full Google Assistant suite and downloadable apps, it is not required for standard channel and guide voice navigation.

To clear out any temporary communication glitches between the remote and the device that cause it to route you incorrectly, please try this quick reset to refresh the alignment:

- Unpair the remote: Press and hold the DASH (–) and APPS buttons simultaneously. The LEDs will blink blue on both sides of the remote once; continue to hold the buttons for approximately 3 seconds until the LEDs blink blue 2 more times to complete unpairing.

- Re-pair the remote: Point the remote directly at the box and hold the FAST FORWARD and REWIND buttons together until it pairs.
