reocurring sound distortion until channel is changed, then fine
At least several times a day the sound will become distorted on our DirecTV stream. If we change the channel and then immediately change it back, it is fixed, but it becomes very tedious to have to do this all day. It does not matter what channel we're watching - it happens on different channels, at different times of day. What is the cause and is there a more permanent fix?

What streaming device are you using? WiFi or Ethernet?

Using Ethernet on one device, wifi on the other - it happens on both, about equally.

I am experiencing the same problem all tvs have Roku device. All tvs and Roku devices software up to date. What is the cause? Seems to be a Directv app issue.

So has anyone been able to get an answer to confirm this is a Directv app issue and if so what if any fix has been identified?

I’ve searched multiple sites and have found 0 solutions. Since all other apps work on the devices, I would point towards application or backend issue. That’s really not an issue for us though. DirectTV needs to get the app team to work on a fix. Since baseball season is over I may just cancel and move to an alternative provider.

We never had that issue with the YouTube TV app on any of my 3 Roku devices. I'm finding audio issues on shows and later streamed them on the parent network home app without any issues. There is some software glitch between DirectTV and the Roku OS

Same sound distortions here. Really bad lately. Don't know what's going on. Using DTV's boxes and ethernet connection. I can't say changing channels helps. I've just not noticed. And it's not my internet because for two days I've been watching 4K programming for about 8 hours each day flawlessly.

I am a fairly new DirectTV Streaming customer, and I have had the intermittent sound distortion problem since making the switch to DirectTV. I use a secondary device for audio, but I confirmed that neither the secondary device nor the connection to it is the problem. (The problem still exists when the audio comes directly from my TV.) I found a setting in Settings/System/Audio/Audio Output that provides a choice between "Surround Sound" and "Stereo Only." When I received my DirectTV box, the "Surround Sound" option was selected. My secondary device is not surround sound, so I changed the setting to "Stereo Only." I haven't had the audio distortion since, and I used to have it multiple times a day.
