Roku Audio Blip

Hello,

I'm having an audio blip on all of my roku devices. I'm new to Directv stream but will have to switch to another platform if this isn't fixed. It looks like this has been mentioned in the forms before with no real resolution. Huge bummer as I was really hopeful that this platform would work out.

No issues here with my Roku's. Is your audio set at Stereo or Dolby? Set to Stereo.

Try resetting your environment.

I tired all of the resetting steps. Nothing worked just as others on this form have previously stated. Huge missed opportunity for Directv stream to capture some of us YoutubeTV defectors.

Maybe for you but most successfully use the service. You will only see complaints in forums. It's on your side or everyone would be complaining with Roku devices.

Hi @Laker6, thanks for bring this to our attention.

If the DIRECTV STREAM app launches on your Roku player, but doesn't play any sound, plays sound that’s out of sync with video, or has other sound problems, try these options:

- Check the volume level and mute settings on your TV and any audiovisual (A/V) receivers you may have.
- Try changing the cable or changing the A/V cables, one at a time. Composite cables are usually red and white.
- Make sure that any composite cable sound connectors are snugly attached to both the Roku player, the TV, and any A/V receiver.
- Connect your Roku player to a different input to see if you can hear sound.
- Check or change your Roku audio settings by selecting Home, then Settings, and finally Audio.
- Set HDMI and S/DIF to Dolby/D.
- Set HDMI to PCM-Stereo.

Find more information and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the lack of help. Going back to YouTube TV as they reached a deal with Disney. Peace.

Is your tv set to stereo or does it automatically detect what the external device is set to?

Having the same problem on both my Roku devices and only with the DStream app.  All my other streaming apps play fine.  Audio drops out if I'm using anything but stereo.  Stereo does not dropout.

@Futurex ,

What device is your Roku connected to for audio output? How is it connected?

I have no issues with Surround Sound audio on my Rokus with DirecTV Stream App.

So upon further examination, I do see that my Sony AV Surround Receiver does see "audio blips" with DirecTV Stream on my Roku. It's not audible, though. I only know because the Digital Surround message on the AV Surround Receiver will blink every few seconds. So clearly something is a bit goofy with the digital audio stream, even if it's not audible. For the record, my Roku is connected to my Vizio HDTV via HDMI, and the Vizio HDTV optical audio OUT connects to my Sony AV Receiver.

@bcbsncjlj is correct in that if it was a systemic problem, everyone would be screaming. I have four Roku devices of all different vintages. The Ultra on my family-room big screen is connected via HDMI to an Onkyo receiver. Occasionally the audio gets out of sync, but that is easily remedied by cycling power or changing the AVR input to something different then changing it back. But, all in all, I have never had an audio 'blip' other than the sync issue. All Dolby formats work fine, including Dolby Atmos. IMHO, the problem is localized to the OP's environment.
