Samsung 8000 Series Audio-DIRECTV App

I am trying out DIRECTV Stream on my Samsung UHD TV.  Using the Samsung DIRECTV app, I have experienced a lot of audio problems.  The audio drops out for a few seconds randomly.  I also have an Amazon 4K FireStick connected to the TV.  I don’t have this problem when using the FireStick DIRECTV app.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Samsung app, checked my Wi-Fi, etc.  The Samsung DIRECTV app is the only app that I have experienced this with, and I regularly use HBO Max, Netflix, Apple+, Disney, Prime Video, etc. without issues.  Do it is clearly the DIRECTV app.  Any ideas??

Folks here have reported numerous issues with the embedded Samsung TV DirecTV Stream app. You'll have a much better experience with a $30 Roku or FireStick.

Thanks for the response.  I had a feeling this was the answer.  At least there are alternatives.

This is a follow up comment on my original concerns.  After doing a few changes with my TV (deleting the DTV app and reinstalling it for a second time, and resetting my WiFi connection to the Samsung), and maybe it's just luck or coincidental, the audio problems have disappeared for over a week.  I occasionally get very brief pixelization and maybe that's when there is network congestion (AT&T Fiber).  But the audio seems to be OK.

Glad you have it ‘somewhat’ working. But, as stated by litzdog911, a wiser decision for the foreseeable future is a streaming device like a Fire Stick, Roku, Apple TV, or even the DIRECTV STREAM box which has a handy remote and faster speeds overall. Theoretically, a streaming device is a one-time payment and often lasts about 2-3 years (according to my personal experience, your mileage may vary)

I have a brand new FireStick Max 4K and the DTV stream app works fine on it, and it is able to take advantage of my Wi-Fi 6.  So I can go either route.

thaks for the advice, though!

Glad you have yourself the appropriate equipment already. You should be good to go if your Samsung every stops working with the DIRECTV STREAM app again.
