Samsung Smart TV Login Issue

Can someone help me figure out why I can not use the Directv Streaming app to login and stream Directv?

Having issues with my Samsung Smart TV's logging into Directv utilizing the Directv Streaming app.

Get Code 201 when attempting to login.

Can log into Directv Streaming using Computer and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra using same login user ID and password as I use to login to my account.  

My billing for Directv is still through AT&T

Have followed everything suggested by Directv:

Updating TV firmware, deleting and reloading app, cycling power on TV, all three devices are on the same Wifi network

This is happening on BOTH of my Samsung Smart TV's

Both TV's were utilizing Satellite receiver boxes to receive Directv previously (trying to switch to streaming

Have no problem loading, logging into and streaming - Disney, Prime, Paramount, Peacock, Netflix, or Apple

If you are using the same email address for 2 or more different ATT/Directv products--that's why it's happening. You need a separate email for Dtv Stream. Also, the Samsung tv app is junk. I used it back in the day when I first signed up and immediately purchased a Gemini box (Osprey) from Walmart. You can also use any other external device like Roku, AppleTv, Android and it's 100x better than the Samsung app.

After spending hours on the phone and computer with Samsung and mainly Directv representatives, here's the answer to my issue.

1st - I have a Satellite account with Diretv

2nd - I have a Samsung Smart TV's (both less than 1-year old and firmware up-to-date)

The Directv Streaming app "IS NOT" compatible with Samsung Smart TV's.

You have to have a Directv Streaming account for the Directv app to work on the Samsung Smart TV.

You're right, @byrdlaa2. Latest Samsung Smart TVs come with Tizen OS, which is not part of the compatible devices to access the DIRECTV app.  Visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000093525 for more details.

Same issue.  Brand new Samsung TV.  Why is the app even available then through Samsung's App store?  Are there any plans to make Directv Stream compatible with Tizen OS and Samsung TVs?

The Samsung Dtv stream app has sucked for years. It's been discussed many times in this forum.

Follow-up directed to DirectvHelp.  New Samsung TV installs version DirectTV Stream version 3.36.40200.  The app runs just fine on Tizen OS.  When do you anticipate a new version being issued to address the Directv subscriber login issue?  The app credentialing needs to allow BOTH Directv and Directv Stream subscriber logins.

We don't have information on this yet, @trwichman. Could you tell me a bit about how you watch DIRECTV? Do you have a satellite dish outside your home, or do you stream it using your internet connection?

@DIRECTVhelp DirecTV satellite customer billed through AT&T.  Same as original poster byrdlaa2 above.  Issue appears to be credentialing not allowing DirecTV Sat subscribers login on Stream app., specifically the version I mention.  Login and streaming works fine on apps on other platforms.  This is a bug in the app that needs to be fixed.  Credentialing fail.

@DIRECTVhelp Yes, same as OP.  See top of thread and read it.  This is an app issue not allowing sign in due to not recognizing credentials used, even though they work on other platforms.

@DIRECTVhelp how do I DM you?  If you are not aware of an app update forthcoming that resolves the login issue and error code 201, not sure you can help.  Yes, I am aware of workarounds suggesting using other streaming devices, rather than the Samsung Tizen app. I don’t want additional hardware or remotes for obvious reasons, just an app that works.
