Signing up from directv satellite to streaming

I have directv satellite & I did cancel it. Because it is in the billing cycle I was told the satellite will still be active until the end of the month. I did go to hulu live but I started to notice the channels I didnt get so I finally decided on DirecTV stream. I tried to sign up on the internet but because I was still considered a customer it said I had to call. Because of that I was denied the unlimited cloud. I tried to call & ask someone about it & I was told they cant change it. I'm sure someone can.

DIRECTV satellite and DIRECTV STREAM are two separate services. Therefore, I’m not sure why you were denied service due to being a satellite customer still. You can start service with DIRECTV STREAM online at DIRECTV.com with a new user name and password. Have you tried that yet? If still showing the error, you can try using a new browser that doesn’t have your credentials logged in yet.

Also, due to them being separate services, you aren’t considered an existing customer when switching.

Did you use the same credentials as your satellite service? Use a different email and password for the service. There are some know issues when using the same credentials.

I'm not sure about restricting signup at all to current subscribers to the other video services - at one point they did indicate that was the case (for unknown reasons), but since I assume they are trying to move people off U-Verse and probably DTV satellite, it wouldn't make sense for them to prevent it.

However, with respect to the "included" unlimited DVR, the website shows (in very small print) a footnote showing:

Online only. New DIRECTV STREAM customers only. Offer not available to DIRECTV and U-verse TV customers switching to DIRECTV STREAM.

Again, it doesn't seem to make sense, but that is what they show.  I'm not sure what they use to tell you are an existing customer, but if you can't bypass that by using a different email address or whatever, you might try contacting Loyalty to see if they can override that restriction - suggesting that you could easily go to a competing streaming provider might help.

You'll be considered a "new customer" if you sign up online with a different email address. That's what I did for a couple of months before canceling my satellite service.
