Skip forward/back are broken during auto extend
I usually watch Mariners games on delay, by recording the game and starting to watch from the beginning while the recording is still in progress. This works great UNTIL the end of the original scheduled time. As soon as it gets past that, any attempt to skip forward or back resets the playback to the start of the auto-extend time. The only thing I can do is watch the rest of the game without skipping. This is a major usability issue for me.
I am using Apple TV and have reproduced this problem several times. Once the game is finished the recording works normally. This only happens if watching on delay while the game is still recording.

Interesting, it could be a bug on DIRECTV STREAM’s side for Apple TV’s or it could be linked to your actual device. Please try reinstalling and signing back into the DIRECTV STREAM app, make sure both the app itself and the Apple TV are upgraded and are on up-to-date firmware, etc.
It could also be that your Apple TV struggles with DIRECTV STREAM, especially if it is an older and less powerful model. Please confirm the Apple TV model as well. Thanks

I have a Dtv Stream box and when my Stl Cardinals games run over, skip works fine for me.

I have done a factory reset on the Apple TV and updated everything to the most recent version. This is the 4K 32gb previous edition, model MQD22LL/A. I also have the current edition in another room and can try it next time on that to see if there's any difference.
To be super clear, this ONLY happens while the game is STILL RECORDING. Once the game is finished, the real duration appears in my library and I can skip around all I want. Actually, sometimes the skip button does nothing and I have to use pause and slide, but I can work around that.

I had a similar issue with the Formula 1 recording yesterday. (I don't remember if it was Practice 3 or Qualifying.) In my case, I could not skip backwards or forwards, but at least it didn't jump back to the beginning of the extended time. I was using the latest AppleTV 4K.

I just tested it on my latest-model Apple TV 4K and the same thing happens.
1. Show is still recording
2. Original time period is over and it's now in auto-extend
3. Library shows incorrect duration (original schedule) and cannot slide past that or skip forward once playing content past that time.
Do you think the development team is aware of this problem?

I noticed this again over the weekend during a sporting event that was in the autoextend period. (i.e. I started watching the recording after autoextend started, but before the event was completed.)
This was via the DirecTVStream (osprey) box:
Once I got into the autoextended part of the recording, I WAS able to use the FF feature, but I was NOT able to use the SKIP FORWARD feature. Interestingly, when I used the SKIP BACKWARD feature, it took me back about 10-15 minutes (to before the 'normal recording time' ended.)

So it’s not the Apple TV app then. I wonder if anyone from DIRECTV is seeing this thread. Needs to be fixed.

Hey DirecTVHelp...you don't want to talk to me? I reported this back in June.

I don't see any chat icon next to the bell. I'm using Edge browser on Windows 11.

@quietlion I had to login to see the bell. I assumed I was logged in, but since I had clicked on the link in the email notification, it did not log me in.... caught me offguard.\
EDIT - I take it back... I saw a number count in the bell, but that didn't take me to the chat. I can't find the chat icon, either.

If this forum software behaves like the AT&T forums, you won't see the chat icon unless you've already been sent a DM. Then it will always be there going forward.
