stop the stream that's playing

I use an Apple TV and a ROKU with the DirecTV Stream app. These remotes do not have a STOP button. I've tried everything to END what I've decided I no longer want to continue to watch, but THERE IS NO ON-SCREEN "STOP" OR "END" FUNCTION! These are the controls while playing, from left to right; START OVER, SCAN BACK, GO BACK 15 SECONDS, PAUSE/PLAY, GO AHEAD 30 SECONDS, GO TO END (this has never been "active" at any point in playback), REC AND SUBTITLES.

Right now I have 6 things with green lights and they are all streaming - AND I CAN'T STOP THEM!

IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!

1 app = 1 channel at a time. If you switch channels one stops and it switches to another. If you want to stop the app, go back to the device main menu.

What green lights are you talking about? Where are you seeing them?

So if I leave the app running, on either or both of my internet-connected devices, something will always be "playing"? There's no "idle" possible with this app?

This is important to me because I'm running 2 servers on the LAN in my home and bandwidth is important. Apps that aren't being accessed yet are streaming are not a good thing.

Hello, @linrey we want to guide you in the right way.

Thank you for your prompt responses @lou_do

In order to stop what you are streaming, it would be necessary to exit from the DIRECTV STREAM app and return to the Roku home screen. You can explore a little bit more about DIRECTV STREAM in Roku by clicking here.

We'll be here in case you have any additional questions.

Here is an article that can help with reducing bandwidth on the Roku, in general.

Hit the back button on your remote to get the exit popup. Once you exit the app there won't be anymore streaming.

It's interesting that the DirecTV Streaming device has a STOP button on its remote! But they've not added one to the streaming app that runs on other devices. Inquiring minds would like to know why...

Pardon me - it's called EXIT. This is what it does;

1 - EXIT the menu and return to previous channel viewed

2 - STOP playback while viewing on-demand or recorded content

Right but that does not say it will stop streaming which is why @Ludwick577 is saying to exit the app.

So "on-demand or recorded content" isn't streamed?

It's all semantics, but I'll note that they went to some length to specify only two viewing situations that Exit covers when there are four ways to view content.....On Demand, Recorded, Live and shows streamed from services under Apps.
