Timed Recording
What do I need to do to set up a timed recording instead of scheduling a specific program to record? Some shows occasionally are preempted. If I setup certain shows to record every day (example: shows airing at 3, 4 and 5 PM every day), and one or more of them is preempted, my DirecTV Streaming Device does not record whatever the show is that preempts the scheduled show. I want to set up a timed recording for that 3 hour block so that I always have those 3 hours regardless of what the channel broadcasts. I can't find anything obvious that could be used to do this. Every DVR I have had in the past has been able to do this.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Dave. We appreciate your feedback. We know you need to set up a time recording for your shows. However, at the moment, this function is not available for DIRECTV STREAM. However, we love the idea! We'll forward it to our team to review and determine the next steps. Thank you for choosing DIRECTV STREAM. LeidyE, DIRECTV Community Specialist

To set up a timed recording on your DirecTV streaming device, you can use the manual recording option.

What is the "manual recording option"? Can it be set up to run unattended? I am missing daytime live programming when the network preempts their normal scheduled show. I need to be able to set up my DirecTV Stream DVR to record whatever is broadcast regardless of the name of the program. The name of the regularly scheduled show appears on the Guide, but because the show that is actually aired is not that scheduled show, it is not recorded. I have been able to do timed recording with every DVR I have had for 20+ years.

Dtv Stream doesn't have a manual recording option. That's Dtv Satellite. Dtv Stream doesn't have a way to set up a time recording right now,.

That is very disappointing. Being that the DirecTV Streaming device is an Android device, it should be state-of-the-art and able to do everything that an old-fashioned mechanical hard drive DVR could do, and much more. I hope that @LeidyE, DIRECTV Community Specialist is successful in convincing them to add the function.
