TV screen darker than normal with Direct TV streaming

New user to streaming through Direct TV - I find that the picture on the tv is much darker than when I had cable. Of course, trying to correct the picture through menu on the tv remote doesn't help due to streaming option.  We stream through our Firestick and Roku. Never had this issue with the Firestick or Roku. Started with the Direct TV streaming.  Is their a fix for this?

The TV screen being darker is an issue with the streaming device and/or TV and should not have anything to do with directv stream. What happens if you change the fire stick or Roku device to another app? Does this brightness issue persist? You May try looking in your TV menu for brightness specifically.

Thank you - Increasing brightness on the tv using the tv remote/menu does not alter the brightness at all. It seems to be darker on all app's. Appreciate your response.

Some folks find that changing the "HDR" setting on their TV can fix this.

I also have notice the darkness issue. I just started using the streaming services this week. Thought I was having an eye problem. I’ll take a look at changing the HDR setting.

I've battled this with both Stream and satellite on my Samsung UHD.  I've found a work around:

-Go to the TV settings and turn off HDMI UHD color for all HDMIs.

I believe that this bit (setting) is flipped when I use one of the Samsung apps (likely HBO Max).
