type in channel numbers

We use it on our samsung smart tv.  We are using the samsung remote which does have numbers on it, but our directv stream guide doesn't show any numbers, just the channel names.

On the Samsung app you can filter the guide to show numbers (at the left bottom of the guide filter) but u can't  use the Samsung remote to change channels. Easiest way is to go channels and populate the "recent" cannels u can access by pressing the up arrow on the remote. If number changing is important to you--get a Dtv stream box. Samsung app sux anyways.

Thank you all for your help.  Sounds like we need a stream box.  Would we need one for each tv we want to watch on, or just the main one?  Is the firestick app any better?

If you want to change channels via remote the Dtv stream box is the only device that does it. Their remote also has a record button, dvr list button, guide button, previous button.
