using directv stream app on smart tv
I downloaded the directv stream app to my Sony smart tv, signed in, all is good, but how do I control the tv? The tv remote doesn't work and the supplied stream remote only works on the tv that has the box connected to it. The stream app on my phone doesn't have a remote option, not sure how to control the tv, i.e. change channels, etc.

There's a DirecTV Stream App for Sony TVs now? That must be new.
TV-based Apps are often buggy and poorly supported. It will never work with a DirecTV Stream box's remote. If it's not working with the TV's remote, then you'll need a better streaming device. A $30 Roku or FireStick will work great.
