Volume cut in half after last update

I have the Gemini and after the last update I have to turn my volume up over twice as much to get same level. I switched out Gemini with one I haven’t used in sometime because of the volume issue and before it did its update everything was working great. Just after the update the volume went down. I’ve tried the troubleshooting suggestions I could find but nothing changed. Any ideas? Thank you

Thanks for reporting, @cardinal30. To troubleshoot the volume issues on your Gemini device, please try these steps:

- Restart it: Unplug the device for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Check the basics: Make sure your TV or audio receiver isn't muted or turned down.
- Verify cables: Ensure all HDMI or optical audio cables are plugged in tightly.
- Change inputs: Try plugging the device into a different HDMI port on your TV.

- Adjust settings: Press the Home button, then go to Settings > System > Remote & Devices > Program Your Remote > Advanced Remote Program > Switch Volume Control
- Factory reset: If nothing else works, press and hold the red button on the side for 20 seconds.

Do you have Dolby on or off on the Gemini device? You might want to play with that setting.......try it off and also try it on and see if it makes a difference

I’ve gone thru the DirecTV checklist, also switched around all the Dolby settings. Still the same. It was fine til the last update. Thanks for all your help. I’ll keep trying with different combos.

Using Gemini Air, exact same problem developed yesterday.  Did all troubleshooting steps, no fix.  Categorically ruled out any issues with the TV itself or my sound system.

This issue is now being reported on the DirecTV stream thread on Reddit.  According to one poster there, it's a known software issue and the poster was told to wait 48 hours.  I would hope DirecTV is working on the problem.

You're most welcome.  I suppose we have to wait out the 48 hours and see what happens.  If and when there's new information, I'll be posting here.

@cardinal30 -- a couple of minutes ago, on a new Reddit thread, a DirecTV representative confirmed that the audio problem is a known issue and they are actively working on a fix.  Fingers crossed.

@DIRECTVhelp @cardinal30  The original poster started this thread 3 weeks ago.  The low volume issue predates that and stems from an update to DirecTV's Gemini equipment.  Is there any status update?

We've been told DirecTV confirms the issue and engineers are working on a fix and it's also been confirmed on the Reddit DirecTV Stream thread.  However, a new post from 2 days ago has the DirecTV rep blaming TV stations for the problem with no mention that 's a confirmed issue or a fix is being sought.  With all due respect, who's got the correct information?

There's also an associated issue with a number of customers reporting sudden dramatic audio volume increases which then revert back to the low audio.  The workaround from DirecTV is to turn off Dolby but that doesn't mitigate that issue.  Again, this stems from right after the update that causes the low volume problem.

Until DirecTV can come up with a solution, can the update that caused all of this be rolled back by the engineers?  It's irritating and frustrating and takes away enjoyment from the DirecTV experience.

Thank you for flagging and sharing these details, @crizal. We understand how frustrating it is to deal with an intermittent loss of audio while trying to stream on your Gemini Air device, and we apologize for any confusion.

To clear things up: Our teams are fully aware of this audio behavior and are actively working to resolve it. While turning off Dolby Audio is a temporary troubleshooting step, we know it does not completely resolve the issue for everyone. Please be assured our teams are focused on getting this sorted out. We truly appreciate your patience and feedback while we work to get your entertainment experience back to normal. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Team

You're welcome! While we may not be able to provide direct updates here, you will know the issue is resolved once your streaming audio returns to normal without any problems. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Team
