watching Directv Stream on Laptop browser?
Since widevine solves the DRM problem for providers, most browsers and service provides now let their streaming work on browser like Google Chrome. I've done this with SlingTV and Youtube.TV. However, with DirecTV Stream I'm having issues.
What works or doesn't work:
1. Windows 10 Chrome displays still graphics for each channel, but will not play them. Only shows blank screen when you try.
2. Windows 10 Edge works fine.
3. Ubuntu based Linuxes with Chrome behave just like #1 above.
I'd like to see this work in Ubuntu Linux because I rarely boot my laptop with Windows; it stays on Linux 99% of the time. It's situations like this problem that keep me from totally deleting the Windows partition.
Ideas??

Streaming from the website has problems with many browser extensions - especially privacy type extensions. Chrome often suffers from this. To see if that is your problem, try accessing the website from an incognito Chrome window - incognito mode generally disables all extensions.

Please have a look at the requirements for watching DIRECTV on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
If DIRECTV is not working on Windows 10 you can follow these steps:
1. Restart your device
- Press the "Windows Key" and bring up the Start Menu.
- Click the "Power Button"
- Select "Restart"
2. Delete cookies on your Windows 10 device.
3. Enable plug-ins to run on your browser.

I think you missed the part about Linux is the need. Windows is a work around. Please reread my post.

This fixed it for me on Linux. Steps:
1. in Google Chrome open new Incognito window.
2. go to stream.directv.com
3. login with user id and password.
Thanks for not giving me yet another link to a website that does not have a solution.

Unfortunately, the actual employees (DIRECTVhelp reps) generally don’t use the service, don’t know much, and are badly trained - they mostly look at keywords in a script. So you’re usually going to be best off (especially with “technical” problems) ignoring them and listening to some of the other users who have actual experience with the system.

With recent updates I now can view DirecTV Stream on Google Chrome on Linux PCs. Not sure if there are any optimization settings to make the video as good as a FireTV 4K.
