When I exit a service, e.g. Netflix, I’m taken back to the DIRECTV place and channel 245. It used to go to channel 6. How do I fix this?

I’m new to DirecTV Stream.  We are using an AppleTV box with internet via fiber optic cable from Metronet. The cable goes to an Eero mesh network device which I guess must use our WiFi network to stream the signal to the Apple TV set top box. There isn’t any AT&T equipment. The interface is the one from Apple TV, with a tile to take us to DirectTV.  When we first turn on our TV, it goes directly to whatever station we watched last.  In the past, when closing out of an app, e.g. Netflix, the TV went to channel 6, which is what we prefer.  Now it goes to channel 245, which we never watch.  What did we do to “break” it, and what can I do to make it start going to the channel we want instead of one we don’t?  I hope that explains our problem adequately.

It ia suppose to return to the last channel watched. The service has always done that with maybe an occasional mess-up. There is no option to define a channel to start the app.

Hello @Griduser69, we are here to help.

Thanks for bring this to our attention. A quick solution to this situation is just adding the channel 6 on your bookmarks to have as a rapid access.

I have noticed that sometimes I will be on say channel 206 and go to the HBO Max app. When I return to Live DirecTV Stream it will take me to another channel, instead of 206. But it always will be a channel that another device, in the house, was watching after I changed to the HBO Max app. If no one else used another device to watch DirecTV Stream, it will return to the original channel I was watching before opening the HBO Max app.

Thanks for the quick reply everyone. The channel it keeps going back to is TNT, which has basketball games on. Our son is a basketball fan, and might have gotten our login info when he was here for a visit a few weeks ago. That’s actually about when we started noticing the problem. He lives in another state, so his TV isn’t in the same house, but could this cause the problem? Just in case, I’m going to text him right now and find out. If it turns out that this is the problem, is there a fix (other than changing our login info)? Thanks.

Hi @Griduser69, thanks for the extra information.

Based on what was mentioned, this might be the reason as of why the channel 245 is the first channel to appear when using the DIRECTV STREAM app. We highly recommend to turn off the DIRECTV STREAM app on the channel 6 and see if you are taken back when you turn back on the DIRECTV STREAM app.
