Why does channel 674 and channel 674a have the same channel lineup - not the same channel.
Channel 674 is the primary ATT SportsNet SouthWest while channel 674a is the alternate ATT SportsNet Southwest channel - why do they have the same channel lineup - they are not the same and do not have the same program content. The alternate is used only when there is a conflict between local teams (namely the Astros and Rockets). At other times, the alternate displays only the SportsNet logo. Unfortunately, the super geniuses that programmed the DTV stream guide can't or wont understand this. The Directv Genie which I had until the sky became obsructed never had a problem differientating the two channels - of course it also has a billion other featues also.
Why can't the program guide people get these two channels correct - expecting to find an Astros game on 674 only to find the cloud DVR chose to record 3 hours of SportsNet logo on 674a get really old. Alternately is there a way to tell it to not record 674a ever?

A workaround finally worked.
At 7:10p tonight, as the game broadcast had just started, I was able to call up the game on 674 on my phone app while at daughter's softball.
Then asked it to record, got home and it DID!!
so for now, i'll set an alarm to go off on my phone at the time of each game i want to record when i'm not home.

@DIRECTVhelp @dougieieie - That a workaround which I consider not a workaround exists - namely setting an alarm on my phone to MANUALLY tell the box to record from the app - DOES NOT mean that this is FIXED - the problem still exists in the software - just tonight I was able to reproduce the problem - unfortunately I can not upload video of the problem occuring or I would demonstrate it.
To be perfectly clear - THIS PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED - I can still cause it to happen at will.
It is not a FIX to say "Well, to get channel 674 to record correctly you have to do a MANUAL procedure (for that channel only) that you do not have to do for any of the other channels.
To think otherwise is unbelievable - it indicates to me that there is a bigger interest in closing an open problem, dusting one's hands off, and sticking one's head in the sand - rather than addressing the REAL customer problem.
To be completely clear - the ONLY reason for choosing DirecTV Stream over alternatives is so that we could receive channel 674/ATTSWHD - for the EXPLICIT purpose of (continuing to) receive the Astros games broadcasts. I am seriously considering discontinuing the service at this point.

"Chat Icon next to the Bell" - there is no ICON next to the bell - there is the User Info circle with a letter and pull down menu with a list of options - none being chat - mostly for managing profile data - on the right side. On the left side there is the text "directv.com" which when clicked carries you to the page at https://directv.com/ which is not helpful. Left of that there is "LeaderBoard" , "Ask a question" and "Categories".
So while your idea is an interesting one - either the web page designer didn't think to include the icon or you are talking about something other than the web page accessed via a computer. I hope you are not assuming that I'm using a phone to do this typing.
I would upload a screen shot but the attempt to upload photos to illustrate this problem failed.
Please provide additional data on how to connect.

I agree with @n1nhs that this is NOT a fix!!
I was just happy that I was able to figure out a way to record last night's game while away from the house, though interrupting a relaxing evening at a softball game.
I SHOULD be able to set up a week's worth or SEASON'S worth of game to record and not worry about it.
Please continue to work on this. I too do not consider this problem closed.
n1nhs, I could not find the chat icon when i was using Chrome as a browser. I had to open Bing or whatever MS's current browser is and then the chat icon turned up.

I just opened my home guide, and now ATTSWHDa shows "upcoming" instead of duplicating the primary lineup. I set tonight's game to record, and hopefully it will work!

Just had a nice conversation with a DirecTV Steam support person who monitors the forums here - it sounds like they are endevouring to resolve this problem. I am hopeful that a fix will be up coming.
I would like thank those who are working for a solution.
dougieieie - re: chat icon - I'm sure something changed, the chat icon is now on the page (in firefox) when I re-opened the page today. Checked my screen capture again, it is different today. If someone worked to fix this last evening - thank you.

I was able to set the astros game to record successfully. Changing the alternate channel programming to "Upcoming" worked!

My Sunday game recorded correctly from 674/ATTSWHD. YAY!!
thanks to all who helped make this happen!!
One minor warning to my new friends here. I set up to record "Astros Games" and as they are playing the Rangers tonight, it said it was going to record from FSSW which i think means I would be getting the Rangers broadcast instead of our home guys.
I deleted tonight's record and went to guide to record off 674/ATTSWHD and seems to work.
