Loss of channels
AT&T has failed to properly prepare for the anticipated end of contract negotiation with Nexstar - resulting in the loss of ABC station, a MAJOR network. This continues to happen, as in the past, when other channels were removed from the lineup - as your customers continue to pay increased costs in service. We set up another TV(purchased an antennae) that would give us this basic channel for the interim - assuming we will get the channel back at some time in the future! I think it's time to contact other providers who can provide continuing service that we PAY for and don't get with AT&T.

To be fair, an antenna would get you uncompressed OTA channels, plus the additional subchannels, which AT&T only offers in rare cases.

It is up to AT&T to get this resolved immediately. This should never happen to customers.

I got it ok for the sake of keeping this at the top of the AT&T forums I will buy your not an AT&T employee rather I suspect you and the other ACE accounts belong to employees of a company that has a contract with AT&T for social media support and services. Nobody shills for a telecommunications giant like you and these other accounts do for giggles. Certainly not illegal but clearly deceptive. Since evidently AT&T customer services neither monitors nor tracks these forums enjoy your continued and I suspect reasonably well compensated efforts to pull the wool over the eyes of dissatisfied AT&T customers. I intend to continually post my suspicions every time you post, I suppose when I am banned I will have my answer in spades.
[Please keep it courteous]

TV providers cannot force the local to stay. The alternative is for them to just increase our bills for the higher rates. We were simply providing you the reality of the situation that your local affiliate is the one trying to raise costs and so you should also direct your complaints to them. You can check https://tvpromise.att.com/ to find out who the affiliate owner is so that you can tell them what you think.
Correct we do not have a choice of what channels to have in a certain package. The channels package themselves to the TV provider, who in turn have to package them to us based off of that. So all we can do is choose the package that best matches what we want to watch. Local channels however are in all of DirecTV packages, so doesn't matter which one you have. You could go down to the lowest package (Family) and still have local channels. If DirecTV had no locals available at all for you (uncommon) then the package would be a lower cost.
If you still have a antenna hooked up, then great. Use that to get your locals. If you have a 2nd/3rd generation Genie (HR44, HR54) then even better. Call DirecTV 1-800-531-5000 and request their Local Channel Connector (LCC) as they have been providing it free upon request to those in a negotiation area. This allows you to connect your antenna to your DirecTV box. So don't have to change TV inputs, can still record, and may even pick up additional channels in range that DirecTV will never have. It comes with a indoor antenna included, but you can use your existing one if that works better. This is a great option to combat the local channel's greed.
However whether for further posts here or to others (like the local affiliate) it is suggested to turn off your CAPS as that makes it difficult to read.

we are so disapointed with your services. billing is always changing, we had to decrease our pkg to afford you. Now, we cant even watch a local channel that is 75% of our TV viewing. you have broken contract by not providing channels we signed on for. we no longer wish to deal with this Direct TV any longer..

Why are you dropping wroc channel 8 from the Rochester NY lineup? It is a beloved local channel with local news and a connection to the community. It would be a huge mistake.

What do you think about the loss of CBS? I pay so much for ATT Uverse and I am paying for CBS to be an option!! Losing a major network is a poor business decision.

Your CBS and their owners are the greedy ones, DTV is not asking them for more money in fact DTV pays them and only they can return the feed to DTV so contact them.

It was your channel that removed their feed to DTV because DTV will not pay them what they are asking to renew the contract that will in the end raise your bill again, since all provides have this problem the only answer is go back to the good old days of OTA.

We switched from dish to direct TV because of this very reason only it was because of HBO now I don't mind switching back if I have to because The Game Of Thrones has now ended.

@Mobile36604 Check out this page to "Learn About ACE"
Hopefully, it will clear up any misconceptions you have about the ACE program, who we are, what we do and why we do it.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.
