Loss of channels
AT&T has failed to properly prepare for the anticipated end of contract negotiation with Nexstar - resulting in the loss of ABC station, a MAJOR network. This continues to happen, as in the past, when other channels were removed from the lineup - as your customers continue to pay increased costs in service. We set up another TV(purchased an antennae) that would give us this basic channel for the interim - assuming we will get the channel back at some time in the future! I think it's time to contact other providers who can provide continuing service that we PAY for and don't get with AT&T.

How much do I deduct from my bill since some of my contracted channels aren't available?

Nothing as the contract/terms of service, specifically states that the services (channels, programming, etc.) may change at any time. If you were to call DirecTV to discuss the situation, they 'might' give you a courtesy credit on your next bill, but are in no way obligated. Unlike what DirecTV has to pay the channel owner for all subscribers, the cost per subscriber is small so would only be worth a dollar or two for you personally.
(d) Our Programming Changes.
Many factors affect the availability, cost and quality of programming and may influence the decision to raise prices and the amount of any increase. These include, among others, programming and other costs, consumer demand, market and shareholder expectations, and changing business conditions. Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.

Hi There @blackedout789
We are disappointed to see Nexstar put you into the middle of negotiations by choosing to remove its local stations from your lineup. Click here to see how we’re fighting for you: https://soc.att.com/2TkYCrx.

In Charleston SC we are without NBC now for weeks. There is a comment on the TV screen that says they are working with Nexstar to resolve this etc etc etc. Seems this should have been resolved BEFORE it was taken off the lineup....especially with it being a MAIN channel (and for what we pay monthly!!!).
With that said....is Uverse going to give any type of credit to our bills since this is a MAIN channel????

@WBeach
Call up and ask for retentions. Tell them you're paying much more than the competition. Be sure to write down when the promotions expire.
I've saved hundreds per year.

We no longer get NBC and the Smithsonian channels. We watch both of these and wonder if we will get them again.

The stations will be back when the owner of those channels returns the feed. AT&T/DirecTV cannot force them to do so any earlier. For current status: https://tvpromise.att.com/
Since the terms of service state that the services and programming may change at any time (because they don't own the channels), there is no obligation to lower the bill. You can try calling DirecTV to see if they would provide a credit as a courtesy. Keep in mind these channels would not be a big portion of your bill, so only worth a dollar or two.
In the meantime you can try a regular antenna on your TV to get all channels within range, including any sub-channels that DirecTV does not provide. Those channels are still free over the air after all. If you have the 2nd/3rd generation Genie (HR44/HR54), ask about their Local Channel Connector (LCC) that connects antenna (indoor one included) to the Genie so you don't have to switch TV inputs and can still record from the free broadcasts.

When do you think that you are going to stop fighting with nexstar and now my local channel 3 This is stupid and we are being punished for your issue. I also think that we deserve a credit for what we have lost. How much longer do you think you are going to do this I took this because of what you offer and now I do not have it

Dish is so notorious for refusing to negotiate they haven't had HBO since late last year...and that's far from the only time they've negotiated like that.

Well, according to this link: https://www.multichannel.com/news/att-and-nfl-to-stick-with-current-nfl-sunday-ticket-deal, it seems as though AT&T is just going to ignore it's Uverse customers and only provide the NFL Network to it's DirecTV customers through the end of 2021 season.
Thanks AT&T for being the ONLY provider not offering the NFL Network to it's customers. Yes, I am aware of the fact that no agreement was reached to keep NFL Network on Uverse. First the NFL Network gets removed, then the whole dispute with Nexstar takes away most of the local networks in nearly 100 markets. Then CBS follows in more markets. It's probably a fair statement to say that there are no local networks available on Uverse and DirecTV unless using an HD Antenna. The last reference to a meeting about AT&T and Nexstar that I can find is from July 15,and still no agreement.
Maybe it is time after all to switch providers? I wonder if other providers would be honest when asked about what pending disputes there could be that will interrupt channels for 3+ weeks at a time.

Before I signed my ATT/Direct TV contract I specifically asked if I would get my local stations CBS, ABC, and NBC. The sales person and his manager assured me I would. Now I am not getting CBS or CW. Can I get out of my contract since they are not providing these channels? There are other cable companies that do provide these stations in my area.

Any sales agent can only tell you what is currently available. They cannot predict if within a couple months if a channel owner will decide to pull their feed as a negotiation tactic.
There is no guarantee of any channel always being there as TV providers (DirecTV, Dish, AT&T U-Verse, etc.) do not own the channels. This is just DirecTV's turn until they get to the next provider in line. So your contract does not get waived as all have in their terms that programming is subject to change:
(d) Our Programming Changes.
Many factors affect the availability, cost and quality of programming and may influence the decision to raise prices and the amount of any increase. These include, among others, programming and other costs, consumer demand, market and shareholder expectations, and changing business conditions.
