NBC, WTHR, CBS - September Contract Negotiation
Why was NBC dropped from the channel lineup? This is a major network that I watch frequently. I am not happy about this change and don't remember receiving any notification of this change.

Thus ATT's refusal to provide ANY credits for the missing station. Absolute unwillingness to negotiate is mind boggling. It's better to force the ATT customer to do without than negotiate.

they will not credit you,
ATT can do anything they want to the channel lineup as per these terms of service (8. INTERRUPTIONS, LIMITATIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS TO SERVICE). You are paying for a TV service, not specific individual channels. Until they come to an agreement nobody will know when.
While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.

Since AT&T puts through substantial increases every year without adding any additional channels or services, this blows my mind. They can take the additional costs out of the substantial profit they are making or lose more money through the degradation in the customer base. Signing off now to call Comcast.

If you live in the Raleigh area, you could buy an antenna for 5 or 10 bucks and connect it. Barking orders at ATT isn't going to get it fixed. BTW, ATT was willing to keep the channel on while they negotiated the contract, WRAL said no and demanded they cut it off.

If I do not get football again this weekend because of att being stupid, I have two choices....I can go back to Spectrum or I may just go and get ROKU for 40 dollars, get an attenae for local stuff, my neighbor this now, and ATT will loose my TV business once and for all.

I just stream WRAL news on another device. NBC network is what I miss but I will be streaming that in a few days should this issue not be resolved. Additionally, I believe I can get streaming services for other networks and programming. Heck, I found that Meet the Press was on YouTube.
When you strip it all back to the basics, U-verse and Spectrum provide nothing more than streaming services that are bundled though no one really watches all those channels. So why not do selective, a la carte, programs rather than subscribing to a bundled service.

What you lose in the ability to DVR network programming. Use of an antenna means you can't time shift which is the whole reason why DVR's became popular in the first place. You can always hook up your old VCR from the 80's....

Constructive, customers are playing the hand we are dealt. I can't think of any other field where two corporations fight and hold their joint customers hostage.
I very much agree with you that AT&T should keep fighting for me, however, I'm not willing to go without CBS indefinitely and there seems to be no end in sight. If U-Verse ultimately becomes a service without local channels, it should just say so and then I can act accordingly by getting a TIVO/Antenna setup which would be paid for by AT*T rebating the cost of the locals back to its customers. What is annoying here is the unknown. I don't want to make a capital investment to watch CBS if a settlement is imminent.
I'd also say that it is not possible for customers to know who is right in this situation. What is the going rate for local channel carriage? How much is being offered? When ESPN negotiates, it's very public. Uverse should make the numbers public so customers have some sense of why AT*T is fighting.

Not true, Baseball. With the $20 antenna, you lose the ability to time shift, you lose the ability to fast forward past commercials and you have to get one for every TV in the house.

Unfortunately, AT&T and the owner of WTHR have different opinions of the meaning of the word "fair," thus AT&T is not currently including this not-free channel in their packages due to WTHR's refusal to allow them to do so at the previously agreed-upon rate.
