STARZencore Westerns channel 940 distortion

Need help; can't watch STARZencore Westerns channel 940 due to the fact that it is stretched to HD from programming that should be SD. Sent message to STARZ and got the following reply: Jason Myers (STARZ) Jul 6, 16:11 PDT Hello, Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Most likely your provider is not showing the HD version of the channel. Please reach out to your provider with any questions or assistance in changing your TV format to better view the channel. Regards, Jason

You all never seem to read the messages. I've been through this before,
the problem is not with my system it's in your transmission of
programming. Read the comments from others with the same problem.

Note that the "provider is not showing the HD version of the channel" on channel 940, because channel 940 is designated as a SD channel.  Were there an HD variant, it would be 1940.  I don't think U-verse carries 1940.

U-Verse blames STARZ; STARZ blames U-Verse, but no one does anything about
it! Sad.

Dear Administrator:

Several of us have been trying since Mid-May to get the transmission of STARZ Channel 940 reverted back to the correct SD transmission.  In Mid-May, STARZ launched a SECOND Encore Westerns feed that is HD - but this requires AT&T to provide a NEW channel to broadcast the HD feed.  Instead, AT&T is using Channel 940 which is an SD feed to transmit the HD content from STARZ.  Needless to say, the picture quality is compromised.  I have posted several examples on my thread of pictures of the current Channel 940 TV broadcast that highlight the problem. Please scroll through my thread and you'll find the pictures that I posted.

NEXT STEP: AT&T needs to revert the STARZ Encore Westerns Channel 940 feed back to the SD content for Channel 940.  We have been suffering through this transmission error since Mid-May.  AT&T even went so far as to send one of their U-verse technicians to my house.  He agreed with me that the content is unwatchable and that the trouble is at the AT&T VOC.

Please do not keep asking us to adjust our TV sets.  No amount of adjustment can correct the wrong feed on your end.

Kindly fix this ASAP -

Geez Louise....the guy from Starz doesn't even know that there is NO HD version of Starz Encore Westerns.

And while @ATTHelp wants to help, they can't.  It is what it is.

According to the STARZ Rep that I worked with, STARZ launched an HD version on Encore Westerns in the EAST in Mid-May which si exactly when Channel 940 went sideways.   The STARZ rep is pretty sure that AT&T has mixed up the feeds to those areas that only get the SD channel.  AT&T needs to send the correct feed to Channel 940 for those areas that are not offered the EAST HD content.

Appears to be OK, but I'll know for sure when an old b&w film comes on.

Thank you for the alert - My TVs are now displaying Channel 940 with four black bars around a rectangular video which is the same way all of the other U-verse SD channels display HD content.  I am really pleased so far - however like @bjohnston1427, I'll be double-checking the old B&W TV shows that are on weekday afternoons.  I'll touch base with you all tomorrow.  If the older B&W Westerns TV shows are displayed in the correct aspect ratio, I will be doing a jig around the house.

I am so pleased that we all stuck with it and that AT&T has responded with a correct aspect ratio for the HD content on Channel 940.

Color me optimistic!

Jane
