Tvpromise is a lie, that's what it is. As more legislators from several states ask ATT to allow Nexstar to return to their service during negotiations we learn the truth.
As for people saying to use antennas: that is not the agreement we signed up for when we chose the service.
There are customers that live in remote areas that antennas don't work. There are people that don't have access to high speed internet. Most eldery people don't have equipment to use other devices to access the network apps, that you need ATT account credentials to watch some, anyways!
Customers rely on local channels for hazardous weather updates, water boil orders, breaking news. The "local" channel could be 40+ miles away.
In my area DISH and DirectTV subscription was a rarity until they started carrying local channels. It's a shame they will now have to return to Comcast and worry about getting someone to remove the horrendous dish from their house because the company doesn't do that, either.
You are so right!! Direct TV isn’t concerned about any of those people! They don’t have a voice so we need to stick up for them as well as ourselves. Do you think Direct TV even reads any of these emails ? Was this site set up to sideline anyone who complains about losing tv channels?? I am starting to wonder.
This channel cannot drop their positive greed stand, let us all call or email those local attorneys, auto dealers and doctors-inform and all other sponsors that the Nexstar Greedy rats are charging them and not airing their ads.
Correct me if I am wrong. DirecTV is under contract with us to supply the channels in our lineup. This is breach of contract and upon calling directv their response was they could do nothing. If it's not our local ABC/CBS/NBC then if they dont give a replacement from somewhere else they are in breach of what I pay for. So in my eyes I better not get a bill.

DirecTV is not under contract to guarantee any specific channel will always be available. They don't own the channels, and agreements with channel owners end at different times, so it would be impossible to guarantee they will be there all the time. Sometimes the owner pulls the feed during negotiations (such as Nexstar) as is their right. Sometimes channels get completely shut down (i.e. Cloo, Chiller, SoapNet). This is why all TV providers have in their terms that channels are subject to change at any time. So the packages include locals in general and the price is the same for all customers regardless if you get 1, 5, or 42 locals as they even the cost across all instead of tailoring cost to each market for their specific locals. Now if no locals at all were provided, then DirecTV would give a no-local version of the package of course.
DirecTV is not allowed to provide you replacement locals. This is per Federal regulations. They may only provide you locals that correspond to your Designated Market Area (DMA), but only if they have permission from the local owner of course.
So in the end, there is no breach of contract. It is an unpleasant situation, but no rules have been violated.
(d) Our Programming Changes.
Many factors affect the availability, cost and quality of programming and may influence the decision to raise prices and the amount of any increase. These include, among others, programming and other costs, consumer demand, market and shareholder expectations, and changing business conditions. Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.

Owner of your local affiliate of CBS removed the feed. They are negotiating for the new rates the TV provider has to pay them going forward. https://tvpromise.att.com/
You are not paying for any guaranteed specific local. Your package includes locals in general, but like other channels they are subject to change as they are not owned by the TV provider. We are hoping the negotiations come to a resolution favorable to AT&T and the viewer, but will have to be patient. In the meantime using a local antenna will be the backup as they still have their free broadcast. Which is why many of us wonder why should TV providers and us viewers pay more every time these negotiations come up for channels that use our airways for free?

We should not have to get a alternative system to get oyr lical channel its inconvenient we are paying for this channel and should be reimbursed it! I signed up for At&t with the confidence i would get local channels now my shows are no longer available because of business negotiations! If this channel and others are not coming back then you need to correct your lineup and compensate for the programs we are not receiving! I pay on time and expect excellence in satellite programming! If these local channel do not come back, im going to have to subscribe elsewhere for my local channels!
This is not right n I want a discount on my direct tv package until u get it fixed or I'm switching to another company. Plain n simple!!!!!
Local channel pulled the feed as a leverage tactic during negations. TV provider cannot force them to return the feed. As long as at least one local channel is provide the cost remains the same as it is not itemized per area.
Terms of service have a clause that states that programming/channels/service is subject to change at any time. This is because they don't own the channels. You are not entitled to a discount, but if you call they might provide one as a courtesy. Plain and simple.

I think the bigger issue here is the failure of AT&T to keep customers informed. The lack of notification is why so many people are angry about this and saying things like it's a breach of contract or there better be refunds.
There's probably a bigger customer loss now than if AT&T had simply kept customers informed. I filled a complaint with the FCC about this issue. They responded in just one day with a link to a page about cable television and the must carry rule. They then promptly closed the case. Complaints to Nexstar won't do anything, as they will just refer the matter to AT&T. Complaints to At&t clearly won't do anything as evident from posts in this thread; just a copy and paste from tvpromise about the issue.
I'm fed up with broadcasters being allowed to pull their feed as a negotiating tactic. I've been in the middle of this too many times. I can only hope that if legislators are involved in the push for a resolution to the dispute (as research indicates; just search *local channel* and Nexstar) that this will get resolved.
At the end of the day, the fact remains that AT&T did NOT or chose NOT to notify customers, and that's a problem.
