Why is WSAV now no longer being able to be viewed.  Who or what is Nexstar?

Nexstar is the company that owns your local affiliate (WSAV). They have pulled the feed from DirecTV while they try to negotiate a higher rate. They may do this as they own the broadcast rights. For more info: https://tvpromise.att.com/

I also agree... We don't have a channel, we should see a discount in our ATT tv bill. We shouldn't have to call, it should just be taken off EVERY PERSONS TV BILL!   No if and or buts about it.

As long as you have one local channel, then your bill remains the same. There is never a guarantee of any specific local or number of local channels available. Since TV providers do not own the channels, they have in their terms that the channels and programming are subject to change at any time. As such you are not entitled (no if, and or buts about it) to a discount. If you call DirecTV 1-800-531-5000 to discuss the situation, you might get some sort of discount as a courtesy, but there is no guarantee.

From the residential agreement:

(d) Our Programming Changes.

Many factors affect the availability, cost and quality of programming and may influence the decision to raise prices and the amount of any increase. These include, among others, programming and other costs, consumer demand, market and shareholder expectations, and changing business conditions. Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.

No excuse...this is a local channel with programs we all follow. Your bills
go up and up with no improvement to anything and horrible customer service.
I have my internet with ATT and it is a necessity because I order my son's
meds who was injured in Iraq....online....only way! I went 2 months without
service while paying before someone finally figured it out. One appt they
never even showed up or cancelled. The next guy didn't know. Three finally
fixed it. Promised a discount for 2 months without....did I get it? NO.
This ATT takeover of DTV had me thinking maybe I'll save IF I add my
cell...but the service is so bad I didn't do it. You take and take and we
get nothing in return. There are things I don't watch on premiere channels
but in order to get the premiere channels I watch I HAVE to accept them as
well and pay sports, etc.
I am searching now for choices.
None of us are asking for premiere tv channels....just our local channels
8, 10, 13, 28! This is so unfair.

As usual, providers like AT&T and Nexstar think about themselves, before considering those affected by their selfish decisions! The way they see it, is bottom line - MONEY in their pockets! They figure their budgets in the millions, trillions of dollars, while we work at trying to make ends meet.

Our big decisions sometimes come down to buying food, paying staggering medical bills, making a house payment, doing vehicle repairs or paying more for TV services! While they are negotiating, many try to explain to children why they can't have toast or cereal, because parents have to deal with ever increasing bills.  Yes, channels are luxury items, yet increases compromise family budgets!! Only a few cents but multiplied by the number of those affected can really pad these companies pockets.

Most aggravating is while they sit up in their comfortable luxury offices, making these decisions, you can bet they never actually discuss what average families deal with on a daily basis. Their concern is only what is best for them, the loss of a few customers is inconsequential!! The extra financial gain is worth it to them.

Can we do without them? YES Are we going to be quiet and submit to their decisions?  Probably, many will, but understand we do have a say, so make a statement about how you feel about their tactics!!

Of course your channels from pay TV are a luxury service. It cannot be compared to medical bills, house payment, or groceries. So reduce your TV service so that they are within budget, suspend service, or remove completely if needed. TV is nice to enjoy, but should never be considered as important or necessary like everything else you mentioned. TV is optional.

Pay TV is a business to make money and is considered an optional luxury so does not have to set prices based on those with income issues. You get what you can afford, reduce if needed, but in the end if you are paying for TV instead of food that is not the provider's fault. So lower the service or just use a regular antenna until pay TV is comfortably in the budget.

You do not pay to have all the local channels. You pay for having locals at all, not a specific local or number of them. As long as one local is provided you are getting what you pay for. If no locals at all were provided, then you would have a cheaper version of the package.

All TV providers have in their terms channels are subject to change as they don't own the channels. So they cannot force the channel to stay. You will not find a TV provider immune from this.

Turn off CAPS lock and remove the tin foil hat. Regardless of what the President is doing, it has nothing to do with channel negotiations.

TV provider and channel owner are in negotiation for the cost going forward. Channel owner has decided to not provide the feed during the negotiation (as is their right). That is all there is too it. These local channels still have their free broadcast if you plug in a antenna.

Assuming your local is owned by Nexstar (the big issue right now), this is not exclusive to you being in the south. They are in most states, North, South, East, West, even Hawaii. You can check here for the reality of the situation https://tvpromise.att.com/ If by some chance your local is owned by someone other than Nexstar, then you can go to the bottom of the page, choose your TV provider (DirecTV, Uverse, Directv Now) from the drop down box and put in your Zip code to search the details.

To whom it may concern,

is there not enough chaos in the world politically? People full of hate? People causing riots? Do you you ATT feel the need to jump on this negativity bandwagon? It’s LOCAL STATIONS to whom we have adapted some quality family shows to enjoy to escape the craziness going on so you decide to pull these stations? You should all feel shame. My household is financially struggling as it is and you pull this stunt.

i hope you never feel the financial burden and sadness we feel. You should feel shame. Shame on you for participating in this negativity. Just shame.

That seems to be blowing this out of proportion.

TV provider and channel owner's agreement came up. Channel owner pulls the feed (as is their right) during negotiations. This negotiation has not currently affected your bill so has nothing to do with your financial struggles. Yes the channel owner is trying to negotiate higher rates, which would affect future rate adjustment, but right now it is just negotiations. TV provider has no choice but to participate in the negotiation, if they didn't then you would never get the channel back.

Remember TV is a luxury not an entitlement for living or sanity. If a local is so important then just plug in a regular antenna to get the free broadcast. You may even pick up additional channels that DirecTV doesn't have (like sub-channels).
