They were made available in lower tiers  in regards to a lot of people staying home due to Covid-19. That preview has ended, you can always upgrade to a higher tier to get those channels if you really like them.

@dooday80 , AT&T TV is quite different from U-verse TV.  Different channel groups, different price points.  You shouldn't expect any kind of parity.

Why won't this thread be locked?

Also, why do people bump old threads?

Also, why don't people research their new TV providers like they research neighborhoods, schools and other things before moving across the country?

So many questions. So few answers.

This is a bunch of horse (Edited per community guidelines)!!!!! I can't  go look for a new company for TV. I live at the tip of the mitt Michigan. Very rural and at&t is the only company we get out here. They tried to tell me to get internet I needed this $100.00 antenna. Only to fine out that the wireless service did work here. I have a tower behind my house and I still lose service on phone and TV. As soon as another company gets out here I will dump at&t in a heartbeat. That's  how these big companies work, they screw the consumer. I am sick of paying for tv and all those stupid ads. Like all the drug ads. And you wonder why our prescriptions are so expensive. We are paying for those ads twice. At the drug store counter and through our tv's. Boycott the big drug companies and at&t for being the pimp for all this crap!!!! I never trusted at&t they screwed me about 15 yrs ago promising me a certain rate only to charge me almost double after they installed their equipment. Which I disconnected and put in a box and called to cancel and told them if they want their equipment to come and get it. I told them that the cost of their service caused me to not have the gas to return it myself. I will dump at&t as fast as I can. There should be better laws that keeps us consumers from this cable espionage!!!!!!! I never liked at&t after they took over Michigan Bell!! It should be called AS&S. The big (Edited per community guidelines)!!!!!

Why is ATT dropping coverage of KFSM (Arkansas) and CBS?

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Why is my channel unavailable on U-verse TV?

Good grief.

They're not. There's a contract where AT&T pays KFSM's owners for permission to carry the channel. The company that owns KFSM wants more money. Naturally, AT&T doesn't want to raise your rates as high as KFSM's corporate overlords want. Do YOU want to pay $5 for one channel when you can pay, say, $2.80 for that same content?

Should the channel be blacked out, call for a small rebate. You may be able to get more than that if you play the right cards. I'm currently getting something like $20 of $30 off each month for a year.

If the channel is temporarily blacked out, you should be able to watch shows via Paramount+ and maybe the KFSM website.

I believe the Paramount+ deal is something like $3/month for 3 months. From what I remember, it ends on 12/1.

Sign up for that deal on the last day of November. In this case, you're good either way and you're only out about $9.

I received a message that I may lose my local channels and that is unacceptable! I expect my service to continue as it has for a long time customer!

Congratulations.  You have just been made a pawn in the negotiations between two large corporations on how much one will spend to distribute the products of the other.  Please be sure to contact your local station and make the same demand of them.

That message is the service continuing as it has. Reality is you are not entitled to any specific channel (local or otherwise). What you are being made aware of it is time for carriage negotiations between your TV provider and the channel owner.

As is common in recent years, the channel owner is using their "scare tactic" that if they don't get paid a higher rate then they will stop broadcasting to the TV provider. Sure the TV provider could cave and give them their higher price, but that comes from our bills as the customer.

Doesn't matter if you are brand new or a 20 year customer. Customers and TV providers don't own the channels so you cannot expect the service to remain exactly the same forever.

ATT keeps raising our rates. Then drops channels that we re paying for and use the excuse of contract negotiations. I lost 2 channels because of ATT's incompetence. There is NO EXCUSE for a billion dollar wealthy company like ATT to not be sure customers get what they are paying for! Just fire some of the useless overpaid executives to make up the difference!

You lost two channels because the FCC has allowed one company to own two stations in one market, and that company (Tegna) is greedy and wants more money from DIRECTV to retransmit what you can see for free over OTA.   AT&T is also greedy and doesn't want to pay the whole increase because customers complain about them raising their rates to cover it.

Eventually they'll come to an agreement, but you don't start any negotiation by rolling over and paying whatever the seller asks.

So, here we go again... (Edited per community guidelines) from AT&T and TEGNA...

More lies... couched in excuses!

At some point I might, just might, get my wife to dump Uverse... if not of all of AT&T phone and TV services.

Sadly, the only choice's I have for Internet are AT&T, Comcast (they want $2000, won't put it underground... just put up poles in my pasture), dial-up (to slow), or satellite (to expensive and slow).

I can live with OTA TV... I can record programs to my computer... ya, not as convenient, but at least I have some control... AND ITS FREE!

With all that said... It would be nice to see people get together and let AT&T/TEGNA know they are not satisfied...

How... simple... don't buy their crap!

What’s with ATT not finalizing a contract with Tegna before the contract deadline expires?  Shame on Tegna for price gouging all its telecommunication carriers.  Now we have a disruption in service which should never happen with any telecommunications carriers.  I’m thinking of just getting a high end HDTV digital indoor antenna and dropping ATT for its TV service only.  I’ll stay on with ATT for internet and landline service only.

This also happened a few years ago and same contract with ATT and with Tegna again

That was from 2020.  How is that information supposed to help except perhaps to reassure customers that an agreement CAN be reached in the future.  🤨

It was on CBS.  If your CBS affiliate didn't allow U-verse TV to show the channel, due to them not coming to terms, that's unfortunate.

Exactly what they said. The station owners *could* allow for an option where they continue to be paid at the old rates and then get backpaid at the new rates...but they don't allow that.

FIX IT NOW. Yes, I'm angry. I pay $200 per month for U-verse, which is VERY STEEP PRICE in my view. But, it should be plenty to cover programming. The channels currently blocked now say "switching is not the answer", but I believe switching IS the answer if they can't do better with my $200 monthly.

The reason why switching is not the answer is that Tegna has contracts with all the network providers and it is only a matter of time before they are in contract dispute with your new provider.

How do you get the black out credit due to TEGNA dispute that is "promised" in TVPROMISE.com and on the blacked out TV channel?

Log into your account and there should be a link available if you are in an affected area. Otherwise call for the one-time courtesy credit.

Hopefully Tegna will stop holding out soon and return their channels.

Thanks, but there is no link.  I am a UVerse customer, is this only available for Direct TV customers?

If you go to their "TV promise" site, choose U-Verse TV from the drop-down (new co-owner has taken management for the TV providers from AT&T) and put in your zip code. It will verify if you should be eligible. If it is then log in from there and ideally the credit will pull up. However if it still doesn't list an option to redeem the credit, then you will have to call. I suspect some have issues because of the migration of the TV services off of AT&T's site.
