When are you going to resolve the problem with TEGNA?

When are you going to resolve the problem with TEGNA?  It's disrupting my service in watching WFSS (channel 8 - ABC) in my area.  Customers should not have to deal with the petty problems between Uverse and TEGNA.  Work it out or lose a long time subscriber.

AT & T is going to up on rates anyway and blame it on this.  Paying $150.00/month for nothing.  More political bull and scamming of the working class

Information from WWL and WUPL on DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse

In order for WWL and WUPL to be delivered to your home, we negotiate agreements for the rights to carry our stations with video service providers like DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse. WWL and WUPL have agreements in place with all of the video providers in our area, including DISH, Cox, Spectrum, and Comcast.

We have made clear that we are prepared to reach a deal at rates that are competitive with the rates that we have recently agreed to with operators of all sizes. So far, DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse have refused to reach an agreement.

Q: Why are DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse refusing to reach agreements to carry WWL and WUPL?

A: We cannot speak for DIRECTV or AT&T U-Verse. But here is what our audience should know: WWL and WUPL are committed to reaching fair, market-based agreements. We have made clear that we are prepared to reach a deal at rates that are competitive with the rates that we have recently agreed to with operators of all sizes. It has been disappointing that DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse, so far, have refused to reach an agreement.

Q: I have heard DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse say that WWL and WUPL are demanding a big fee increase, which would lead to higher bills. Is that true?

A: It's unfortunate that DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse are busy attacking us rather than negotiating fair deals that would restore your service. We understand how it can look like our stations are unfairly raising our rates to DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse customers, but this simply isn't the case. We have made clear that we are prepared to reach a deal at rates that are competitive with the rates that we have recently agreed to with operators of all sizes. Those providers all felt that they were able to reach a fair deal with us while continuing to offer value to their subscribers. There is no reason why this negotiation with DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse should be different.

And if TEGNA resumes the feed AT&T has no reason to do anything.  I assume that any good faith bargaining on both sides should have been done before the expiration date.  They both are resposible for this.  And I have only been on this forum for a few days and only on this thread, but my take is that if the 'ACE' commentators are not being paid by AT&T then that is their fault because they are definitely shills for them.

OttoPylot, since you know that these are 'new, very expensive terms' you must have inside information, can you tell us what the old terms were and what TEGNA is now demanding.  Generalizations without facts are meaningless.

They are offering a one time $20 credit for DirecTV & Uverse TV customers.

Nothing but money hungry suit wearing (Edited per community guidelines). LETS MAKE SURE OUR SHARE HOLDERS ARE HAPPY!!!! That’s the only issue. ATT and TANGA could care less about their customers. All they care about are their share holders. Unless an administrator tells and shows all of us the truth, no one should believe them. They’re all liars!! Thank god the Saints only play on Fox.

This is about two corporations atempting to make as much money as they can, neither really care about the customers, they just care about how many will pay the price.

Lost access to the St Louis NBC affiliate (KSDK) earlier this past week.  On screen notification directs customers to this site for information on other options to view this channel.  I don't see anything like this on the tvpromise.com site.  Many of the questions and follow-on discussions are from years ago.  As with many others, I've had AT&T U-verse (not dish) for twenty plus years.  The NBC station was my primary channel for local news and prime time programming.  Do I really have to leave AT&T and move to Charter to get access to KSDK again?

How can that be???   Uverse was launched in 2006 with beta testing in San Antonio in 2005.

Dear DirecTV, should we, your valued customers, withhold our December payment, until this dispute is resolved?  I am certain you would not ask or expect us to remit “in-full” a monthly payment for “partial service”.  I will await your reply but please do so posthaste, as my December payment is due on the 12th.

Thank You for Your Time

@drwoodson

You don't get to hold your payment because one channel is negotiating. Such a request is unrealistic. You don't pay, then you get a late fee.

You are not getting "partial" service. TV providers do not own the channels so there is no guarantee of getting any specific channel. The packages include access to locals, but there is nothing that promises you will get certain ones all the time. This is why they like all other TV providers have a clause stating that the programming and channels can change at any time. So you are still getting what you pay for.

Now if you log into your account it is possible you might have an option for a one-time credit as a courtesy. They are not obligated in any way to provide it, but something you might get. They only send one bill a month meaning any credit you receive would show on the following bill, so I would still pay the bill as it shows so you don't get a late fee or risk service interruption. But you have to check in your account as you will not get anything here as this is a public forum of other customers.

Both sides will spin the details in their favor. I do not fault either of them as this is how negotiations work between TV providers and channel owners. I only hope the TV provider gets the better deal, as that means better for us customers. And certainly want it to resolve soon. But even if it went far enough that they parted ways, that would be fine. I went to pay TV for all the national channels, not my free antenna locals.

If you cannot last without the one channel, then you know your other options. Good fortune with whatever works for you. Definitely not a shill as a few have falsely accused. In the end, I don't care if you stay or go. Just when you see people calling upon the "torches and pitchforks" when a single channel has gone dark (temporarily), it makes you shake your head at the level of addiction to the tube.

I would like to change your comment to ' but you have to remember these are businesses that are holding only to their investors and stock holders.'  Both are involved with this and both are concerned about themselves and not about their customers.  They are seeing how far they can push things so they can make money.  How much can they charge and how many customers will leave and how many will stay.  They are not altruistic, they are taking care of themselves and we, the customers, are in the middle.

And I don't care about the TOS, I know they can do whatever they want.  What I am stating is that neither side is 'looking out for the customer', they are looking out for themselves.
