When are you going to resolve the problem with TEGNA?

When are you going to resolve the problem with TEGNA?  It's disrupting my service in watching WFSS (channel 8 - ABC) in my area.  Customers should not have to deal with the petty problems between Uverse and TEGNA.  Work it out or lose a long time subscriber.

Really!? Two major networks that come free on antennae TV. ABC and NBC along with local news from 2 sources. Common man!

Can you give me an update on contract dispute with San Diego CBS affiliate?  It's our favorite network.  If it's not coming back soon I'm going back to cox cable.

Your CBS affiliate is owned by Tegna who is in negotiations for the next carriage agreement. So Tegna will only return the channel when they accept a new deal. There is no further update beyond that as we don't get the minute by minute at the negotiation table. The only next update would be when they get it back.

Remember going to Cox or anywhere else will not save you. Since TV providers do not own these channels, they all have go through these carriage agreements. And the trend in recent years with all of them is that local affiliates are pulling the feed more often.

My stance is why should Tegna or any other local affiliate be paid more, raising my bill, for channels I would just get free over the airways? I didn't go to pay TV for my locals that have a free broadcast.

Fox 43 was dropped from our selection without notice.  Now we get the drama screen regarding your argument with TEGNA.  Message says to visit tvpromise.com for more information and "other ways to watch".  Since we are paying for this eliminated service, that led me to believe you actually had "other ways to watch".  I do not see any.

Can you help us with this??

Use an over the air antenna. In some markets, an alternative is something called locast.

TV provider and channel owner are negotiating the next carriage agreement. It will be back once they hash out a deal. Only Tegna who owns the channel can return the feed as they own the broadcast rights.

Alternate options tend to be a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna or in some areas a feature called Locast. These are options outside of DirecTV of course since DirecTV is not allowed the feed right now.

Personally, I think you are both corporate greed fed (Edited per community guidelines). You leave us subscribers out in the cold.  You could care less what we are missing in our lives being home bound during COVID.  You’re deplorable.  Get your act together and give us what we pay for.  BOTH of you.

the reason i have directv is that i cannot stream tv shows; we have satellite internet (limited use).  so, i am dependent on you for my tv shows.  unfortunately, my favorite shows are on NBC (this is us, chicago med) and you guys are in a dispute with them and the signal has been turned off.  they say, you say!!  who the heck cares?  get the service back...please

thanks

@catcrum

DirecTV and local affiliate channel owner (Tegna) are in carriage negotiations. Until a new deal is reached, Tegna withholds the feed (as is their right).

So both sides have to come to an agreement. That is the simple reality of it. Though if Tegna gets a better deal then bill go up to help cover any increase in cost.

Have you tried a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna? Those locals still have their free broadcasts. Something to use as a backup, or possibly even get other channels in range that DirecTV doesn't have (such as sub-channels).

@RichardtheUnderdog

You are getting what you pay for. Nothing guarantees any given channel. All providers have a clause that those channels can change at any time. This is because they don't own them.

Yes TV provider and channel owner need to come to an agreement to resolve this. But keep in mind, if more gets paid to channel owner then that is another factor for higher bills. So regardless of either side's "greed", Tegna getting the better deal is worse for the customer.

And we are not doing anything to you, as this is a public forum of other customers, not official company support. Personally I say watch another channel. It is only deplorable if you are addicted to one channel that is free over the regular airways.

Don't blame AT&T. These broadcasting companies like TEGNA should be ashamed and regulated. There stocks go in the wrong direction so they want to charge more to make up the difference. Just so the Trump supporting CEO can make millions.

Not AT&T's fault by mo means. They're fighting to keep costs down. Tegna on the hand could care less about you. As long as the CEO continues to make millions. Welcome to Trump country.

The same things happened under Obama and they'll happen under Biden and whoever is next.

They probably would have happened under Clinton, but the TV providers didn't really care about prices because someone could subscribe to just about everything for $60 or $70. The companies who owned TV channels only maybe owned 3-4 and not 7, 8 or more. ESPN was only maybe $4 or $5 per subscriber and not the $8 or $9 it is now.

Why should we not be getting a rebate/reduction in our bill since we're not getting what we are supposedly paying for?

@Cjwilson710

I participate on my free time in conversation in the hope it helps others as I have been before on this forum. Sorry that some people cannot accept the reality of the situation or get so hung up on a channel that many of us can just get over the airways for free. For those that cannot get the free broadcast where they live, I suggest watching another of the many other channels in their subscription in the meantime.

The two sides will get their deal hashed out eventually. People just need to be patient and realize one channel off for a bit is not the end of the world. Plus if TV provider caves to agreement instead of negotiating then even higher bills for us is the result. That part people seem to forget about when they are in the "but I want it NOW!" mentality.

You claim to share our frustration but I don't think you really do. While we can't watch programs we pay for, we are still paying for it. Put your money where your mouth is and adjust our bills to reflect that you can't get this done. My family watches NBC about 15%-20% of the time that we watch TV.  So cut our rates and then you can say that you feel our frustration too. Otherwise, get it fixed or offer other NBC channel operators. AT&T is much too big to let this type of problem happen. GET IT DONE OR CHANGE OUR BILLS!!
