AT&T (or any provider) can only bundle in what the channel owners (Discovery, Comcast, Disney) want. If Disney wants to keep ESPN+ as a separate thing, so be it.
Comcast has started to offer Peacock to some various subscribers the way AT&T has included HBO Max.
If you want to change Discovery+, I'd suggest contacting them.

Verizon is offering a bunch of different streaming services with their Wireless Services (started with Disney+ for a limited time last year, now it's Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ with some packages). I can see Comcast giving away access to a streaming service they own. Gee, just like AT&T with HBO Max. But still, the fact remains that there is no Discovery+ channel, just like there is no Disney+ channel, or ESPN+ channel.

Comcast internet (or all customers?) and I think maybe Cox subscribers get the $5 version of Peacock included in their bill. They can upgrade to ad-free for $5.
Of course, most anyone who subscribes to HBO on any provider (example: "Call 1-800-CABLE-TV and get HBO today!") gets HBO Max included.
HBO Go = Came with subscriptions to HBO as a way to watch "on the go." It didn't have live channels, just a menu of shows.
HBO Now = A way to subscribe to HBO without doing so via a TV provider.
I believe HBO Now customers were immediately upgraded to Max. Those with HBO Go had to wait until their providers (Comcast, Charter, YTTV, etc) signed a deal for HBO Now...and they had to wait until their streaming box signed a deal. (I was stuck with HBO Go on Roku, even though I had HBO Max on other devices.)
Of course, since HBO is owned by AT&T, many AT&T customers to any higher tier of service gets HBO Max included in that service.

Discovery+ is NOT a channel. It is a (paid) STREAMING SERVICE. It includes all of the channels in the Discovery family like TLC, HGTV, A&E and Lifetime.
If you get Discovery in your package, nothing will change.
You do realize that DIY being replaced will result in tons of one-post-wonders demanding the return of DIY and that "XfinityDishSpectrum would NEVER pull such shenanigans! I paid for a year contract! AT&T has to uphold their side of the deal!"
Discovery+ is geared towards those who choose to stream content and NOT subscribe to a TV provider....commonly known as "cutting the cord".
do not forget CBS ACCESS that offers exclusive content and programming for $5.99 a month with commercial or $9.99 a month without.
HALLMARK has Feelin for about $5 a month...
For those that want all carte pricing instead of a bundle they can probably get it with streaming content but not likely saving per month.
Even Netflix with less content since Disney pulled programming for Disney+ has raised their pricing by $1 or $2 depending on plan.
New content production during the pandemic must be costly.
New direct streaming packages are a new way for content providers to try to make money. They put exclusives there to try to lure people who already have access to the linear channels to pay for them. ESPN does it with ESPN+. Disney+ offers things not on any of their linear channels. Discovery+ is no different.
If you don't like this, that's fine, but it's not AT&T's fault or problem to solve.
All I can say is, we pay enough as it is for this service. If they insist on putting programs on a Paid Streaming Service, they will lose viewers. I will not pay an extra $7 per month just to see some not so great shows.
*Copy paste what's above.

Touche. It didn't hit me when I read it when skeeterintexas wrote it, but that time it struck me that we're telling people that Discovery+ isn't a channel, it's a streaming service, and then we say it includes channels, when it includes content.

I know Discovery + is not a channel. But it can be included in your subscription with AT&T. That’s why I pay for U-verse. To be able to watch those shows that are being pulled and put into Discovery +. So your statement that if we currently have Discovery nothing will change is wrong. I now can only see reruns of Property Brothers, Love it or List it, Joanna & Chip etc. U-verse can include Discovery + as a free downloaded app IF they want to.
What they are going to make us do is cancel our U-verse and go to Verizon or use another source and purchase just the ones we want. Too bad for AT&T.

Okay, let's say I sell a newspaper that includes a comic strip. Comic writer decides to write a new weekly comic book with favorite character from strip. Newspaper should mail every subscriber a copy of that comic book each week.
That's what you're saying.

Actually what I’m saying is that IF one reason I am buying that newspaper is because of that specific comic strip and then the writer quits the newspaper and goes to another paper, then I would probably stop taking that newspaper. I certainly wouldn’t keep taking that newspaper and buy the one that the writer changed to. One or the other. So AT&T or ala carte channel picking. First newspaper should have kept the writer in syndication.

AT&T has zero control over what shows get aired. The owners of the Discovery-owned networks have obviously made a decision to put their newest episodes behind their own paywall.
If someone really insists on being the first to watch certain shows available on a streaming platform, they need to subscribe to it. AT&T has never had Netflix. If they've never had Netflix, the outlook doesn't look good for a newer streaming platform.
Might I suggest the OP subscribe to *only* Discovery+, since that's all they care about.

@adoughty29 , your description doesn't cover the situation. Writer is still writing his comic for the newspaper, he's just now taking his best ideas for his comic book and phoning in the newspaper strip. He might run some of the bits from his comic book in the paper after they've appeared in the book.

I don't understand how customers can blame AT&T when it's a DISCOVERY decision about the availability of their programming.
If DISCOVERY decides to move Dr. Pimplepopper to DISCOVERY+, or they decide to give Chip & Joanne Gaines their own network (Magnolia available on DISCOVERY+) or they decide to move Property Brothers to DISCOVERY+ that's on DISCOVERY, not AT&T.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Once again, it's a "I pay AT&T infinity dollars for the highest this, unlimited that and the most of the other thing. Why don't I get..." situation.
Apparently the OP really really likes Discovery and doesn't seem to understand why U-Verse doesn't offer Discovery+.
But, as you said, it's a Discovery decision. The OP would be better off to lodge complaints with Discovery.
