DIRECTV dropping OANN?

How could you bow down to the WOK cancel culture demands to dropping OANN?  They do not lie!  The "big lie of the 2020 election" is absolutely true. There is mountains of evidence of the election steal. All the misinformation comes from liberals not conservatives!  My husband and I will be dropping Directv if you go thru this in April. I will convince all our friends and family to do likewise. This is an attack on freedom of speech and our country. Shame on you!!!!

@Ryannebe Not sure I understand the question.  Are you suggesting that DIRECTV teams with the extreme left communists and attempt to control the decisions of free Americans by punishing those who cancel with higher internet prices?

Note many including myself do not use AT&T internet.  There are lots of internet options available that would not be subject to such control.

...refused to raise my cancellation reason to management.

With any company if you cancel they request the reason to note it. Companies can run reports to see a trend. So they normally wouldn't have a process to separately send to management.

As for "lack of empathy", I would expect that agents being short staffed just want to get through the calls and usually don't have a personal stake in your feelings. They should be polite, and sure call centers would encourage being empathetic, but in the end they are to assist you with your account. You opinions regarding the OANN decision does not change their options. They certainly should be polite, and I give extra credit to those that are empathetic, but when I call in it is to get a task completed and I understand that my feelings on the matter have no effect to what options my account is qualified for.

Canceling DirecTV would only affect internet price if you have the two together with a bundled discount.

I installed my oan live acct on Roku ultra today and found that oan plus was already on ultra. There is no provision for dvr recording of content that is streaming thru it however so I am looking at tivo next.

Both roku and oan live have responsive support reps via chat and I easily reached roku by phone to discuss an issue with voice command on the ultra remote. Its much easier to ask for a channel then trying to guess where it is and navigating to it.

I guess  You Can't Fix Stupid...lets see 186.91x 12 months works out to   $2,242.92per year SOB... One Month left for me April is coming folks..............Kind of like April's Fool hey ?? @eebigsky

They made a public announcement (so not just customers). And of course word of mouth as passed it along. As such, I doubt they see further notification not worth it.

Yes this thread has gone a while, but a lot of the posts (on both sides or neutral) are from the same individuals (or suspiciously duplicate accounts). And of course being a public forum there is no verification on who is or is not a customer. Probably only those that call so they are dealing with official support, and are verified as a customer, matter to them. That is my perception.

As for "can't fix..." and "bankruptcy" comments, well that is a matter of opinion. I wonder how many of those that make similar statements have been in charge or have owned a TV servicer provider to have direct comparable knowledge on how that works.

That may be a lot of money for you, but individually that is only a drop in the bucket for their revenue. The net difference across all those who decide to switch, is what will matter to them. Depends on that cost vs the value they see of not supporting OANN anymore on if they change their mind or stay the course.

Though I doubt main stream religion making fun of older religion's New Year (a.k.a. April Fools) has any impact on OANN.

Juniper,

I suspect there is a lot more then a handful of users (“drop in the bucket” as you state it) given the Attorney Generals of 6 states already signed a joint letter to DIRECTV on the matter.  Sorry if your Utopia is a world without OAN, but that’s not reality for the country.

As for your comments about the thread… indeed there are a handful of accounts which appear to be customers but are actually very suspect for being Team AT&T / DIRECTV.  Note this thread is not the only place where customers are venting displeasure.

Also, there is no such thing as a main stream vs. older religion… religion is not based on culture and is based on TRUTHS which stand the test of time.  God Bless America.

I only mentioned an individual viewer was a drop in that comparison. When one boasts how much they pay, they don't consider they are merely one out of millions of other customers. So, my point is that it matters across the many, not the individual, on if DirecTV makes any changes.

Your claim about "my Utopia" is false. Please don't let your emotions make false assumptions. I have no investment if OANN stays or leaves, as I am not reliant on a channel existing or not like some.

I was referencing the origin of the "April Fools" that many are unaware of. As for not based on culture but only "truths", well that is a discussion for different medium. I will only say that claiming "no such thing" is a matter of opinion or perspective, not simple facts. But having anyone "Bless" America, is irrelevant to the OANN discussion.

If one looks through the 78 pages on this thread, they would quickly come to the conclusion that Juniper did in fact have an investment in wether OAN stays or leaves.  In fact, there was a lot of emotion expressed by the individual on the matter.

Juniper, I’m happy to see the clarification on you original post that April fools and Religion are not related.  Indeed, your original post was not related to the discussion at all.

This is not a question, but rather a statement.  I am asking that DirecTV NOT renew their contract with OAN.  I know your contract with them is up in April, and that you are being pressured to retain it.  But as a long-time DirecTV subscriber I ask that you remove it from your lineup.

Note that when users asked for CNN and MSNBC to be dropped, the thread was closed by DIRECTV moderators as being a political comment.

The statement from @chrisinsears should be removed to be fair.  Users get shut down when they ask for MSNBC and CNN to be canceled but DIRECTV supports users asking OAN to be canceled….

Are you really dropping OAN.  If you do I will cancel all service.  This is on principle.  I believe in and support FREEDOM OF SPEACH
