DIRECTV dropping OANN?
How could you bow down to the WOK cancel culture demands to dropping OANN? They do not lie! The "big lie of the 2020 election" is absolutely true. There is mountains of evidence of the election steal. All the misinformation comes from liberals not conservatives! My husband and I will be dropping Directv if you go thru this in April. I will convince all our friends and family to do likewise. This is an attack on freedom of speech and our country. Shame on you!!!!

The fact is no contract was violated. If you must have issue with the reason for their choice, that is all well and good. But the fact remains is they made their choice within the rules. Calling it "fake news" doesn't make it so.
DirecTV is fully allowed to not continue with OANN upon end of their existing agreement. No matter how much you don't like that, it is their right no matter the reasons for the decision.

And, like I said, Nothing knocks down empty charges of “fake news” like FACTS.
Changing the subject and moving the goalposts does not change the truth that the charge of “fake news” was as empty as the prevaricator.

Juniper, the court document filed in San Diego, California Supreme Court says otherwise. We will see what happens but note Herring won the last time they were in court with AT&T.

Completely agree bherber, unfortunately there are some with ulterior motives in here spreading misleading information and moving goal posts by repeating the words like “Internal Review”, private company policy, blah blah blah. The vast majority of us don’t care as we see right through it.
However, others have posted factual data from government documents, a study funded by left wing extremists, court documents, and letters from the States / Senate. All one has to do is read instead of consuming the Gossip over from CNN, MSNBC, NYTimes and other fake news establishments.

Elmer: The new ATT chairman is indeed casting a pall over what used to be a first rate company that is now proving that Go Woke Go Broke is a truism. The rank&file of the company are what made it take the lead in technology but it is now going in reverse due to bad politics coming from oak-paneled suites. I hope its not too late for it to get its head out of its (Edited per community guidelines) and take us into the streaming revolution!!

@ElmerFudd79
Thanks for posting the link to the court filing.
I read the entire document.
Here's a little snippet from that information that I think is pertinent to our conversation here.
AT&T is majority owner of DirecTV.
The chairman of the board of AT&T is also on the Executive Board of Directors of Staple Street Capital.
Staple Street Capital is the majority owner of Dominion Voting Systems Corporation.
Staple Street Capital is an investment service in New York City, currently with a 1.6 star rating on Google.
A year ago one reviewer had this to say about Staple Street:
"Hmmm - company info & contact gone dark. wonder why?"
Another reviewer 7 months ago:
"Owners of dominion voting machines, disappeared after election"
Whaddya think folks?

@Catskills_Dan The added details help and I’m glad the court document provided useful information. I highly recommend that every DIRECTV customer reads the document as it outlines the ground work for something which may very well get elevated beyond the left wing Supreme Court justice majority in California.

Truth: DIRECTVs “Internal Review” was politically motivated:
“On Friday, January 14, 2022, OAN President Charles Herring spoke with DIRECTV Senior Vice President of Content Rob Thun (“Thun”). Throughout much of Herring’s relationship with AT&T, Thun has been Herring’s primary contact with AT&T and DIRECTV. During that call, Thun informed Charles that DIRECTV decided not to renew the Agreement. Thun informed Charles that the decision was made at the board level and was “political,” implying that outside forces, such as AT&T and/or Kennard (given his role with Dominion’s owner, Staple Street), had influenced the decision. Indeed, Charles later learned that AT&T’s CEO, John Stankey, knew at least two days before that OAN would not be renewed. The news stunned Charles, Robert and Bobby.”
Truth: DIRECTV violated its contract with OAN by disclosing confidential information to third party entities
”The Parties agree that all terms and provisions of this Agreement
(as well as all data, summaries, reports or information of all kinds, whether oral or written, acquired or devised or developed in any manner from the other Party (and/or the Programmer Related parties or the AT&T Related Parties, as applicable, and/or their respective Representatives), or any proprietary or subscriber information, provided by one Party (and/or the Programmer Related parties or the AT&T Related Parties, as applicable, and/or their respective Representatives) and to the other Party), its negotiation, and any discussions, or agreements related thereto, as well as information, testimony, documents or other data related to or concerning the Litigation, or provided and/or obtained in discovery in the Litigation (together, the “Confidential Information”) shall be held strictly confidential by the Parties, the Programmer Related Parties, the AT&T Related Parties, and their respective Representatives.”
Truth: while AT&T owned 100% or DirectTV, it disparaged OAN through CNN (Also Owned by AT&T)
“[T]he Parties, the AT&T Related Parties, the Programmer Related parties, and their respective Representatives during the Term of this Agreement and for two (2) years thereafter, shall not directly or indirectly (or encourage, suggest or organize any other individual, entity or third party or their Representatives to) (1) disparage (including, without limitation, via the Services, blogging, social media, press interviews and/or any public statement) the other Party, the Programmer Related Parties, the AT&T Related parties, and/or their respective Representatives . . . .”
While DIRECTV was still 100 percent owned by AT&T, AT&T and AT&T Services began breaching the non-disparagement provisions in the Affiliation Agreement through CNN, which competes with OAN. On January 10, 2021, during CNN’s Reliable Sources program, CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter interviewed CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy, who stated, “You have corporations
- 19 - COMPLAINT
1 and people that are profiting off of lies and conspiracy theories, whether that is big
2 tech, whether that’s Fox News, whether that’s TV providers that beam OAN and
3 Newsmax into homes.” (Emphasis added.) Stelter responded, “Right. This is a
4 poisoned informational well. That is the big story here.”11
5 75. On January 17, 2021, CNN’s Stelter continued promoting
6 disparagement of OAN by inviting former Facebook Chief Security Officer Alex
7 Stamos on his Reliable Sources program.12 During the program, Stamos advocated
8 eliminating the capability of (Edited per community guidelines) programs such as OAN from reaching large
9 audiences. Stamos stated, “And then we’re going to have to figure out the OANN
10 and Newsmax problem, that these companies have freedom of speech, but I’m not
11 sure we need Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, and such to be bringing them into tens of
12 millions of homes. . . . Allowing people to seek out information if they really want
13 to, but not pushing it into their faces, I think, is where were going to have to do here.”
14 CNN’s Stelter thanked Stamos for his comments.
15 76. On January 22, 2021, Bloomberg News Canada published an article
16 quoting CNN’s Darcy and CNN analyst Max Boot.13 In the article, Darcy implied
17 that (Edited per community guidelines) channels contributed to the unfortunate events of January 6, 2021
18 at the U.S. Capitol. In that same article, Boot wrote that “cable providers should
19 ‘step in and kick Fox News off.’ If Newsmax and rival One America News Network
20 ‘continue to incite viewers, they, too, should be booted off,’ [CNN analyst Boot]
21 added.”

"Note that Kennard became chairman of AT&T’s board right after the 2020 election and has deep ties with the Democratic Party as well as substantial financial ties with Dominion Voting systems."
That certainly explains a lot, considering owners of AT&T asked the Herring Brothers for another con..ser..va..tive channel and they created OAN as a result of this request. https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-oneamerica-att/
"On January 10, 2021, during CNN’s Reliable Sources program, CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter interviewed CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy..."

Why is it that only right leaning media lies? Did not the left leaning media call a certain person a Russian asset with no proof. Can only SMH at those that feel threatened by a different view.

@chasf00 Its because the elite dictators desire state controlled media to brainwash people so they stay in power. Think about the vast geographical areas who will soon lose access to an independent news source because they have no choice but to use a dish. Their goal is to use the media to brainwash people and turn more states Blue.
OAN is just a test case for the extreme left tyrants controlling DirecTV. If successful, Newsmax will be next followed by Foxnews.
I have a feeling it will backfire though… a big red wave is coming and many will not forget what happened (including legislatures). I certainly will not ever forget how DIRECTV disvalued me as a decade+ customer who helped them make AT&T Stream successful. What a shame…. They ruined what they had and I’ll never go back.

@NotWoke I saw that as well. More people need to cancel their accounts and Boycott DIRECTV to show them Customers come First. One usually rethinks their actions when income goes down.
DIRECTV has made it extremely clear that they don’t care about their large customer base who simply desire 3 conser…va…tive channels in their lineup to balance the 7+ left wing news channels.

My Sling Adventure
Sling offers a good lineup for 25$ per mo (but not oan or newsmax) so I tried it last week. When I joined I was presented with a no ads option for a few dollars more but I decided not to take it until I saw how it was with ads.
I watched a movie and sat thru 6 ads in a row at one point and immediately went to my profile to enroll in the no ads option but it was nowhere to be found.
I chated into support where they said there was no such option and I tried chat 2 more times where they all said they offered no such option.
The only option left was to terminate my account which I did,
