DIRECTV dropping OANN?
How could you bow down to the WOK cancel culture demands to dropping OANN? They do not lie! The "big lie of the 2020 election" is absolutely true. There is mountains of evidence of the election steal. All the misinformation comes from liberals not conservatives! My husband and I will be dropping Directv if you go thru this in April. I will convince all our friends and family to do likewise. This is an attack on freedom of speech and our country. Shame on you!!!!

I only hope that is the majority who are courteous. Unfortunately, there are those out there who will simply be toxic, throw a tantrum, or otherwise be juvenile in their calls. I do not envy their employees that take those calls.

At this point I feel it's about as constructive as arguing with a fence post replying to you. I am pretty much done here; I having stood in the unemployement line will sympathize with the ATT/Directv employee's in the unemployement line. I will continue till I turn on my Directv receiver and find no OANN available. I will then bail.
It's sad that ATT/Directv Management is so far removed from their customer they do this. Well @Juniper When their "Share Value" is flushed they will be #readytowork. Good Luck with that Sir.. The folk's that were here with Directv will go elsewhere to
"get what they want"

DIRECTV support did not start offering discounts until recently as despite me calling twice in January and treating them very kindly, I was offered no discount and was informed they had no way to let management know why I was canceling. The change of operations with respect to the discounts for OAN customers suggests many are calling to cancel and executives are starting to notice. I pray other customers are just as smart as you in declining the bribe to stay with the understanding this is a much bigger issue than just one channel.
Juniper, many people find it offensive that you profile cons..ver..atives as “toxic, throw a tantrum, or otherwise be juvenile”. It is exactly the opposite as you stereotype; Americans canceling DIRECTV over an attack on the first amendment of the constitution (Freedom of speech / the press) are actually very intelligent. They have the foresight to defend the principles of freedom many people have given their lives for so future generations can enjoy “life, liberty, and happiness endowed to all people by their Creator” and “governments derive their powers from the consent of the people”.
@LindyK It is telling when a company creates bots to sensor the word con…ser..vative. Sorry you got censored and your awesome for saying it in my book.

But what a customer wants is not always reasonable. Bullying others (being a "karen" to use a current analogy) is not being a good consumer. What you want may not always be available.
As customers, we are not entitled to everything. We can make requests (doing so within reason) or search elsewhere for what we want. Staying within reason, and making our own choices as needed/desired, is the way to go.
That was my response to "what happened to the customer is always right?". Too many (both businesses and the customer), took it too far, mangling it from what it truly meant. This means some customers are now getting the harsh reality that bullying and throwing tantrums doesn't go as far and just makes it that much more obvious what a horrible person they are.
Quite the claim to be making regarding the unemployment line. A little bit of putting the cart before the horse I feel.
And apparently it is not trendy or important enough unless you add a hashtag/pound sign (#) to it? Ugh, the rabbit hole that is social media.

DirecTV must be getting nervous about how many people are canceling as they were not offering discounts when I called twice in January. Despite me being very kind, I was basically told then that you can buy OAN on your own and there was no way to let management know why I was canceling. Hopefully others are as smart as you and resist the bait for a discount with the understanding this is a much greater issue than one channel like OAN, but about defending freedom of speech / press.

I firmly believe the great majority of us are very intelligent to have the foresight to realize this is about defending against an attack on the first amendment of the constitution;

We just want to protect the freedoms many people have given their lives for to defend our Declaration of Independence for our childrens children which says “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”.

The hypocrisy is DIRECTV is censoring a public record on congressional letter head which explains why OAN was canceled and why Newsmax and FoxNews will be next.

I wasn't referring to anyone specifically in this thread. Just a general observation from outside the forum as to the "customer always right" question. In general people abused it. I don't know if there will ever be a balance to original intention of that phrase. So just using what I have seen over the years to answer that question.
You say this is an attack on the First Amendment. My question then, is how could DirecTV choose to not support OANN anymore without it being an attack? Do you see a solution that will allow them to make their choice without it being an attack or offending you?
Honestly all I see is either they stop a business relationship with a network they have no value in (as they have done) or they keep a channel they feel is wrong for them to make a particular group of customers happy. If you see another option available that could work for both sides of this issue, I would love to hear it.
With continuing to support them or not being the only choice, I perceive, I cannot see this as being "censorship". So, anyone who doesn't pay and carry OANN is censoring them? As mentioned, customers vote with their wallets. Well in comparison I would say DirecTV did the same at the business level. Many in this thread would argue this is the downfall of DirecTV. I will let time show what the outcome will be.
