Dropping channels from a bundle

Is the any way to drop channels from a DirecTV Stream bundle?  Specifically, OAN. It is a problem for me to support an organization that routinely presents lies and untruths.

Have you been able to see NoraGo? I found that Pluto TV has allot Also If you get a Firestick you can add the OANN app as well as the Skynews and Newsmax. I believe using NoraGo app Fox News was there. I was trying to get most without monthly fees.

@ahwhite I agree… just pointing out there are still many areas of county which have limited access to broadband internet.  Many homes only receive content via a dish.  Elons Starlink will someday solve some of these issues buy but the tech is fairly expensive for most.

Note letters from government officials on OAN citing similar concerns.

@SuzeP1245 Thanks for reference on Vidgo.  There channel lineup aligns to my interests very well.  Finally we have another good alternative to VUTV+ which is working for me at the moment.

I still might check out a trial of Vidgo though.  Hopefully they will come up with some Disney alternatives in their package.  From what I have been reading, many parents are likely to start restricting newer Disney content given its not so family friendly.

That was us until about three years ago. DirecTV and Wild Blue then  Exede both Viasat, and finally fiber optic. No OTA at all or cell. Back in the day antenna was 1 channel and all snow.

@chasf00 ROTFLMAO.  Also note the only channel that does not work on VUTV+ in CNN.   No big loss, it helps my blood pressure.

I would not care if they carried CNN or MSNBC for that matter… I just don’t like large corporate entities using their monopolies and hiding under “plausible deniability” to silence portions of the press just because their viewpoint does not align with the corporate leadership’s political ideology.  Let the people (customer) decide what they want to watch by changing the channel.

Thank you for the link.  That video Sums up the #Cancel OAN truth perfectly for what everyone was talking about in the main thread that is now closed.  I will have to find some way to share with Elmer as I think it would bring a smile to his face.  Only if one could email another forum user.

Thanks. I wish I knew how to share those things also. Maybe @ElmerFudd79 and so many others can still see the forums but just not participate.

Just a comment. Did you know Sling TV is owned by Dish?

Sling TV is led by Erik Carlson, who also serves as the President and COO of Dish Network.

Here are the customer losses from cable and other traditional TV providers for the year.

  • DIRECTV -1,905,000
  • DISH TV -595,000

Meanwhile, live TV streaming services saw an increase in subscribers for the year.

So I personally feel that DTV disenfranchising customers because of Woke culture may cause both Dish and Direct to merge but still decline from streaming services.

Each person should look forward and seek the best options for your needs. No use in (Edited per community guidelines) over something that is not going to change but to adapt and move on.

Here I just suggest to look at OTA systems and additionally look at the best cost effective streaming to cover each person/families desires. If you wish to ask personal preferences there are many to choose from

We are adapting just fine. Actually, my wife better than me. I think I enjoyed DirecTV slightly more than her and would have kept it had it not been for the OAN dismissal. Oh well, such is life. We have Roku and more stuff than I'll ever watch. I don't have that much spare time anyway.

Dan Ball just announced, what we already know, that Monday is the last day that OAN will be on. [DirecTV]

its looking like Monday or Tuesday I will make my phone call.  I've cleared my DVR to 98% free and the content on there now was recorded this week.  I've canceled future OTA recordings as my TiVo is capturing them now.  I'll let it capture the last episode of A&E's "Secrets of Playboy", watch it and then delete it.  I'll probably reset the DVR too, although I'm sure DirecTV resets them before redeployment to another household.  Also watched that YouTube video, very interesting.

@ahwhite  I'm finding NoraGO works pretty well on my firestick.  I respect your decision to use OTA and limit your subscriptions.  I discovered that VuTV+ does have Fox News without a cable subscription which will enable me to watch Unfiltered.  I have checked out Pluto and know about OANPlus, which appears to be a library of aired programs you can select to view.

@chasf00 @Pro1A

I didn't notice no CNN or MSNBC on Vidgo...that's funny.   Still getting used to streaming and when my DTV is gone, I'm sure I will figure it out more.  I found that site on the OAN webpage.

I downloaded the OANN app and paid the $4.99 a month so OANN is on the Firestick as well as my FireTV. The OANN Plus is no more than the commentary from the hosts. I dont mind some but rather see more of the live news and events.

Look for the A&E app and download it and you will still have access to the shows. Also check on a few of the free apps for A&E. I think you can get it through them.
