Gemini with Genie (1080p)

I would like to connect a Gemini to my Genie (via Ethernet) to output all channels in 1080p.  It appears possible per the Directv guide for installation.

The Gemini is like a Mini Genie Client. It outputs the same resolution as the Genie. The only reason to connect it directly to the box by Ethernet is if you have the 3rd generation HR54 on a 4K TV as works to passthrough the 4K resolution.

Otherwise, each box goes on their own TV providing the same resolution. Gemini or 4K Mini Genie (C61K) on a separate 4K TV to get that additional resolution of course.

Yes your Genie is connected via satellite as that is how all Genies connect. The Gemini is unique that it has two different versions (based on firmware), one for satellite the other for DIRECTV STREAM (streaming-only).

Thanks.  I read somewhere you can set the Gemini to output 1080p.  I’m trying to find a Directv product that will output all channels in 1080p to my 4k TV.  I can access Directv via Apple TV 4K, in 1080p resolution.  It looks much better than 720p from the Genie.  I’m not fond of the Apple TV functionality.

Not all channels are 1080p to begin with. So the DirecTV box only outputs the highest resolution the channel is in the first place.
