Has Newsmax been dropped from the Direct TV channels ?
I was looking to switch over to Direct TV, and just heard that they have intentionally dropped Newsmax from the channel lineup. Is this true ?
If so, then I will not be switching over to Direct TV.

Yes, they have dropped it. But this was not ‘intentional.’ It was more or less directv deciding that they don’t want to pay NewsMax a carriage fee. Currently, newsmax offers all of their live TV content free of charge through the app so directv thought it was unfair that they had to pay for something that was free elsewhere. Additionally, by paying for NewsMax, DIRECTV would have to pass the charges onto customers. Depending on how true or not this actually is, the fact of the matter stands that newsmax is trying to charge directv for something that is absolutely free through the app on streaming devices, phones, and tablets.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that an agreement between directv and newsmax won’t occur. If all goes well, it could very well be settled by tomorrow or the end of the week. Otherwise, yes, you should NOT sign up if you plan to enjoy newsmax with directv (your new provider).

Sorry for not mentioning. No, I am a volunteer customer like you volunteering my time on the forums when I please to help others. So, no, I have no affiliation with AT&T or DIRECTV.

It’s obvious they are censoring. OAN already removed.

Don’t switch. They over charge and now censor. Find another cable provider

Use the free app. Same live content as the cable and satellite offers. No cost.

It is censorship. DTV is using a convenient excuse.

DirecTV falsely claimed to media outlets that Newsmax is asking for a fee but still wants to keep a free stream on OTT platforms (over-the-top service is a type of service offered directly to viewers).
But this is false; no operator pays a fee while Newsmax streams free and DirecTV was fully aware the free stream will end this year.
"We've discussed with Newsmax on several occasions that we'd like to offer their programming, however, the network is now seeking significant fees that we cannot pass on to our broad customer base," a DirecTV representative claimed in a statement.
But an analysis shows that Newsmax was seeking a fee with a 75% discount to its market value, and compared to fees currently paid by DirecTV, almost all 50 channels below Newsmax in ratings get higher fees.

Obviously this is a hot topic, I waded into this one by mistake. Since posting I've searched the web and found all types of bad comments about the dropping of Newsmax from Direct TV.
Newsmax is a good source of info not shared on typical news channels. It's a shame they decided to delete the channel from the lineup. Its up to the people to decide what to watch, not the service providers.
Hey Direct TV people, pay attention to what your viewers want ! Maybe you'll have more customers...
Unfortunately I'm going to have to pass on the service after doing some reading. Thx guys for the fast response on my question !
