I was promised a lower bill but it’s the same

My mom died and she had all of the Spanish channels. I called to cancel them. They switched the package to entertainment and we had choice before. I changed the package to choice but without the Spanish channels. My bill came out to $275. We were paying $189 for internet and tv. I called and explained to them what happened and I can’t afford that. They agreed to drop it to $185 for July since June was halfway done. I get my bill today and it’s $274. I called and they have no knowledge and they can’t do anything on their end. Any tips on how to lower my bill? If not I would need to switch to streaming or dish.

Sorry for your loss. Also sorry to say it sounds like the agent may have committed fraud.

You cannot transfer the account to yourself or keep it open as it is tied to the original owner's SSN. As such only the surviving spouse may take the account into their name. Outside of that you must call to cancel.

However if surviving spouse took it over, then you call and discuss the options. Don't expect discounts as they are not obligated. If lowering service doesn't get within budget than cancel you must.
