My broadband/your ads/my screensaver/your ads
I think you will have to pay ME to use my broadband to take over my screen saver with YOUR ads. DIRECTV charges 5 times what a streaming service charges and won’t let the screen saver go immediately and ask me daily to let it back on the internet. What is this big dish on my house used for?
No new equipment for loyal users unless I give DIRECTV a blank check to use my broadband data.
I guess you think I was born last night.

The satellite dish is for your basic service as DirecTV is service by satellite. Internet connected is for optional On Demand features. Either way there will be advertisements.
If your setup is connected to your home internet then the basic logo screen saver is replaced with the advertisement and landscape slideshow one. The only way to remove it is to disconnect from your internet and reset network defaults so it goes back to the basic screen saver. Be aware that any recordings that happened during that time may still have the advertisement screen saver injected in them.
Even without the new style screen saver, it is suggested to not be connected to an internet that is metered/has a data cap, or bandwidth is too low to support it along with your other devices. On Demand has ongoing background usage to keep the info up to date.
If you think DirecTV (or any other TV provider) will give you a blank check or pay you for advertisements on the TV then you might as well have been born last night. Advertisements on TV are the norm for many decades, no matter the delivery method.
