You mean it would allow you to get what you really want - Newsmax through aback door! Not going to happen.

Umm, I think we are having a misunderstading.
I am not saying pushed toward a specific provider. I am saying they are not pushing for cord cutting or leaving DirecTV to go to any other provider.
My point is they are not carrying OAN or Newsmax, so for those specific channel viewers would need to use another option instead of or in addition to DirecTV. And their stance on the other viewing options seem to be in defense of their stance in the negotiations.
That is not cord cutting or pushing to streaming providers, just because they don't carry a specific channel.

May I offer some options; Look at a TIVO OTA system along with a Firestick will give you so much more FREE. I see OANN, NewsMax and all the rest FREE. I live in a deep southern rural area and still get over 35+ channels on a small antenna. I used the mounting for the "dish" for the mast and put up an channel master antenna. Now with all the streaming options I have a lot more options and all free. The TIVO OTA is a DVR to record all the shows going through the TIVO box and it also has a "skip" feature to bypass commercials. One TIVO box with the mini can be used throughout the house. As long as you have internet access you can get so much more free.

@bcbsncjlj CNN and MSNBC also are available FREE on the net. DTV pays them anyway

What is "free" on the net and what is provided through a live channel is not always the same thing. There can be differences.
DirecTV is a satellite TV provider. They cannot push everyone to streaming options, otherwise that is pushing for shutting down the business, so that certainly wouldn't be what they are doing.
Naturally if they don't carry a channel, then watching elsewhere can be mentioned for someone wanting something they don't have. Telling people alternatives for Newsmax is not "cord cutting" or pushing away to streaming services. You can use those alternatives alongside DirecTV if you want.
Boiling it down, they don't have the channel, don't plan on it returning, so if you really want it/can't live without it, then you look into other viewing options for that exact content. Doesn't matter the reason (or some indiviudal's percieved reason) the channel is gone, but it is. Sure there may still be a small chance for Newsmax to come back, unlike OAN which had no negotiation, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Isn't great we now have to use multiple platforms to watch what we want instead of paying one service like we use to. DTV is censuring OAN & Newsmax and everyone can see it, those that defend them are leftist that enjoy punishing conservatives , in this case forcing them to seek alternative sources to watch desired programing... DTV is already shrinking because of steaming , this behavior just accelerates that. The first service that stops alienating half the county and bring these channels back will make a mint on new subscriptions

It's actually great to you multiple platforms to watch what you want and don't pay anything.

@Juniper Getting people used to streaming their content rather than using Directv for their content, which is what Directv is suggesting, is pushing people towards cord cutting. If you get people used to streaming instead of watching Directv, they're going to be more likely to stream other content and not pay the huge monthly fees that we pay to Directv for the convenience of getting the content in one place. This entire stance by Directv seems to be very short-sighted and clearly political in nature, otherwise they would treat Newsmax in the same manner as many other news channels that have even lower ratings.
According to Directv, they ARE still negotiating, though I'm not sure how true that statement is. Don't worry, if they can't resolve it, I'll be gone from Directv and these forums.

@bcbsncjlj Having to watch multiple platforms for content defeats the purpose of paying a premium to Directv.

Well, I don't want to pay for something that I can get free. Obviously, DTV feels the same. Besides, it was available free before Newsmax wanted money. DTV would still have it now, before the greed by Newsmax set in.

@bcbsncjlj Continuing that line is pretty dishonest since you're already aware that Newsmax has already told Directv in the negotiations that their service will no longer be available for free online once they're receiving a carriage fee from Directv.
Also, it's hardly greedy for Newsmax to want a market rate for their programming. Directv pays carriage fees to many lower rated cable news networks already and Newsmax's reported demands seem very reasonable in comparison to what Directv is paying to others.

Not sure if this is the case, but last year when I called DirecTV to cancel my service, the agent offered the DTV streaming service so I could still get OAN (to which I politely declined). Has anyone who still wants Newsmax and wants to keep DTV heard of this?

Those networks are not available on the streaming service either. They were removed at the same time.
