$75 Gift Card offered along with Showtime Free for 3 months

I was contacted 3 months ago by someone claiming to be from DirectTV (AT&T) trying to convince to get a 3-month trial for Showtime.  I told them I was not interested as we do not have time to watch the package we have now so having more channels would be pointless.  He told me if I did try, I could get a $75 visa gift card for trying it so I finally agreed.  I called today to cancel at the number the man gave me (1-800-531-5000) and was told by the rep (Jimmy) that it was a scammer that called me.  It seems very strange that it would be a scam when they did not ask me for any personal information.  All they did was get me to agree and then give me the information I needed to cancel and to submit 3 months worth of bills showing that I had showtime to showtimeattrebate.com.  That was it.  The rep said it was never added to my account which I have looked on my bills and verified.  We never did even look at the channels so I had no idea whether I had them or not.  What is this all about?  Is it really a scam?  I am not going to agree to talk to any more DirectTV/AT&T reps calling me with offers ever again if that is the case.  And the website is a real website.  If this is a scam, you guys need to get that site shutdown and figure out who is using your name to perpetuate this scam.  Prevent it from happening to others.

I was told the same but it was added to my service and I had showtime for three months. The rebate says you have to have paid showtime to qualify for the rebate. I was given free showtime and because of this I cannot get the promised rebate. Lied to again by ATT. Nothing new. Cancelled all ATT services due to being lied to.

I was contacted in April about adding to my account.  I didn't want to, but then I was promised a $75 gift card by the 3rd billing cycle.  Called today about it as it is up next week.  Att rep stated he couldn't help me to call a different number, I did and they said that they were only for new customers, so they gave me another number- they inform me that in order to claim I have to submit 3 months of bills and wait 12-14 weeks for the card.  I was NEVER told this when I accepted.  I called ATT back, and they said there is nothing at all they can do for me that in order to get the rebate I will need to upload the 3 months then wait the additional weeks to get the rebate.  I know this rebate will never be sent, I just can't believe after being with them since 2000 that they wouldn't do anything for me.  Contract expires in Jan, I will be leaving.

I received the same promotion and showtime fulfilled the request.  Needless to say when I received my egiftcard in my email the expiration date was 01/1900.

I have called every # i can find and noone can help resolve this, even though the egift card actually has the $75 available but unable to use. Very discouraging that a company would do this and not even fix or just say sorry

@sully68 You may need to activate the card.  Look at the package it came in.  I had this issue before with a visa giftcard.

My rebate says it was sent on 11/5, but I never got it either to junk or my inbox.  From what address was it sent to you?

Sorry to hear that. When I was doing my research on where my rebate was I thought I got scammed. The website was gone, DirecTV knew nothing about the rebate. So I was so surprised when the card showed up that I activated and spent the card that day. I hope your card shows up soon.

Same thing happened to me! I was told if I signed up for Showtime for $10.99 a month and kept for 3 months I would receive a $75 gift card. That was on 12/14/21. I called today 4/06/22 to cancel showtime which I was able to do but no one could tell me anything about the gift card and I was transferred or given another phone number to call. No one could help me!

IF THIS WAS A SCAM THEN HOW WAS SHOWTIME ADDED TO MY BILL AND CHANNEL LINEUP????????🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

NEED HELP?
