Asurion PPP games, tricks, and lies
I have been paying $25/month for years for coverage on my electronics through the PPP with ADH. I have been trying for a week to get satisfaction on a claim. Waited all through last weekend for a call back after initiating the claim, only to be told when I called Asurion back on Tuesday following that they "couldn't get anyone out to repair the set. " They were sending me an email with offers for a replacement set.
The website is completely useless! Following the link in the email takes you to a page that says it is emailing you a one time code to enter on the page. The code (says the page) will expire in 10 minutes. Email with code never comes. I try again. Email never comes again. I check my email in the morning, and OH! There's the code! (Only several hours late). Follow the link in the original email again, guess what? It wants to send me a NEW code, which also doesn't come. Finally, just following the link in the email takes me to a "Sorry, it's not your fault, but there's a problem" error page with a phone number to call.
Wednesday evening I call the number on the error page. Spent HOURS haggling with a CSR who wanted to only offer HALF of what this one year old set is worth! Several phone calls later, I'm told they will email me a dispute form. Well guess what never arrives? I call back again. The CSR says he will xfer me to another department. Guess what? "This department is closed."
I call back again (now REALLY steamed!) and am promised someone will call me this morning. This morning, as promised, the phone rings. A recording asks, "Will you accept a call from Asurion? If yes, press 1". I press 1. Guess what? " This is a non-working number".
DirecTV get Asurion to HONOR their protection plans and get their own house in order before I cancel my coverage! I've had this plan for years, and I have to tell you that this isn't my first rodeo with this company. They HABITUALLY play games trying to shake people loose and get them to give up. I've HAD IT with them!

Oh, I forgot the part where Asurion said they were "all out of replacement sets", so they couldn't offer me one. And it was when I asked for a cash buyout instead that they tried to lowball me into accepting half the value of the set, and far less than what the SAME set is selling for currently.

UPDATE: Asurion FINALLY came through with what is probably a FMV cash buyout offer on this TV. But what they put me through in order to get it was outrageous. The lesson here is just DIG IN, know the value of the item in question, and don't give in to their shake-you-loose discouragment tactics. You have to be a pit bull!
