AT&T Call block.
We are getting frequent telemarketing calls and voicemails from AT&T Direct TV pertaining to their packages and specials.
They are extremely annoying and bothersome.
How can we make this stop?
We have AT&T cell service only

If you are getting a call from "AT&T DIRECTV" to upgrade your service or get a discount, it is 99% likely not AT&T or DIRECTV, but a scammer trying to rip you off.
I get calls like that a lot, but all they know is my number and name and do not know that I do not even have DIRECTV satellite. They ask me questions about my service, and when I make something up, they can see the bogus information I gave them on my account.

Whether they are legitimate marketing calls or scam calls, your best defense is to quit answering them. Those calls are robo calls, answering just lets the robot dialer know that’s a good number.

Thanks for the replies.
We don’t answer. Have the AT&T Call protect app. All calls from unknown callers go directly to voicemail.
I don’t “believe” it is a scam. I think it is a legit recorded telemarketing sales pitch for AT&T Direct TV.
(This is one of the very few telemarketing calls that result in a voicemail as opposed to them hanging up.)
“You qualify for 50% off” “Call 866-569-0418 from 8am to 9pm PST”
Calls come from an 866 area code and they are not listed as SPAM in the AT&T call protect log.
Tried calling them while blocking my number (*67) but the call doesn’t go thru. I think if I call them without blocking my number it may trigger even more telemarketing calls.
Both my wife and I have been getting several voicemails a week from these (Edited per community guidelines) for at least the last two month. How ironic given we have AT&T cell phones.

That is not a legitimate sales pitch, that is a well known and very old scam. I’ve started getting that recorded message on my cell phone too. I can sure understand how some people fall for it because it sure sounds legitimate but it’s not. It’s a scam. I got one tonight, actually. It came from 833 area code.

Look up the phone number in Google. Not associated with DIRECTV.
DIRECTV has dropped the AT&T branding. If the call says "AT&T DIRECTV" or "AT&T and DIRECTV" the odds that it's a scam are very, very, very high.

Thanks for the additional replies. We've been registered with the Do Not Call Registry for years. Difficult gauge how helpful it is though. So far this month have received 25 scam/telemarketing calls and may average around 50 per month. Fortunately most do not leave a voicemail. For what it is worth the app "AT&T Call Protect" works reasonably well and is free for most AT&T cell plans. Can set it to block known Fraud calls or Spam Risks (phone doesn't ring). Can also set it to block unknown callers (those not on your contact list). Unknown callers can leave a voicemail though.
And finally, just listened to the last four voicemail messages left by those claiming to be from "AT&T Direct TV". The call back number is different in each voicemail. Wish the scammers could be prosecuted!

that means nothing to scammers from India, the do not call registry is for US numbers only and some slimey scammer in Calcutta doesn't care about it

Heck, people in the United States don't care about it. They laugh at me when I ask them why they didn't check it before calling me.
