Billing Overcharges

I've tried on two occasions to resolve my billing problem.

AT&T erroneously charged me $107.28 for UVerse service I did not receive from Mar 20 - Apr 19, plus they are charging me a late fee because AFTER two telephone conversations (the last one with Samantha on March 25, 2020 #(Edited per community guidelines)), and being assured this over charge would be removed from my bill, I'm being told I am past due (for the third month!) and a late fee of nearly $10 is being charged. They also charged me $60 termination fee which I was told was being waived since I was switching from UVerse to DirecTV.

That means, because of the ineptness of AT&T customer service and billing, I have to pay this over charge to preclude being ripped off each month for an extra $10 and keeping my credit score from being damaged.

So my only recourse is to file a dispute, hope that I get my $107.28 and any extra charges AT&T decides to pile on.

It could take up to 30 days to settle my dispute and if for some reason that fails, then I get to "begin arbitration by submitting a Demand for Arbitration to the American Arbitration Association." Isn't that special?

This is how they treat their customers who have been with them since 2002. I guess I could have tried a third time (third time is charm or is it strike three you're out?).

Do I sound disgruntled? Just a little bit maybe?

I love DirecTV and I hated when AT&T bought them out because I knew customer service would go into the toilet. But I was trying to save being financially robbed every month through my UVerse bill. My account rep assured me all of this would go smoothly. Wait until he hears about this. He's a great guy; lives down the road from me. Gave me great service, gave me the package I was looking for and saved me money.

Unfortunately the local service we receive rarely transfers to the corporate level.

So the end of this sad tale is that I'm paying the overage and then filing a AT&T - Notice of Dispute expecting this not to be resolved because that's AT&T's customer service and billing track record with me.

Buyer Beware!

File a BBB complaint if they don't fix the bill. The complaint is forwarded to DirecTV or AT&T upper management who will contact you directly
