Sorry for your loss. They have a process for that. Call DirecTV at the number in my signature below. You'll need to provide a copy of the death certificate.

I just spoke to a Direct TV representative on the phone and she told me to go to directtv.com and fill out a "tobr" form to accomplish getting my name on the account in place of my late husband's. Is this information incorrect?

Sorry, I have no idea what a "tobr" form is. Perhaps someone else here will know where to direct you. They should have been more helpful on the form. You can also try chatting with their support instead of calling so that they can actually provide the exact link you need.

Thank you for reaching out, Wanda. The information that was provided is correct, you will need a transfer of billing responsibility in order to place your name on the account. Let us know in a PM if you have further questions.

Transfer of Billing Responsiblity.  It's a term AT&T uses a lot in wireless.

Tobr = transfer of billing responsibility.

Directv DOESN'T do that and never has, that's an AT&T thing. The rep should have just added your name and notated the account that account holder is deceased

DTV does allow a surviving spouse to take over the account.
