Direct TV wants equipment back / didn’t direct tv charge customers to purchase?

I recently turned off two of my seven boxes, I m not sure how long I m going to leave them off. The agent I spoke with was insisting I return the boxes, my question is didn t I buy this equipment years ago when I signed up for Direct TV? Why would I return equipment I had to buy in the first place?".

Doubtful. Most all DirecTV equipment is leased, not owned. Unless you're an employee. 

 

How did you "turn off" two of your boxes?

What model numbers are they?

 

You usually can't reactivate equipment after it's been deactivated, so no value to keep them.
