That depends. What were you told when you called to cancel?  What are your Receiver model numbers?  Only newer equipment needs to be returned.

Thus far my account is only temporarily under suspension pending my evaluation as to whether or not I can live without it.

It appears, that I will indeed be canceling after twenty plus years. I can no longer justify the high cost

OK. Let us know your equipment model numbers and we can tell you if they need to be returned. Also, if you're a relatively new customers, or recently upgraded equipment, be sure ask about any early termination fees when you call to cancel.
