Hooking up new RCA rocky tv to an older directv dvr receiver....

It is stuck on step 1 of 2 Checking for satellite settings....after about 30 min it comes back and asks if my dvr is on, no signal. Which satellite input should
I be hooked to? 1 (SWM-2) or 2? And then that is the cord that goes to the wall hook up to Dtv, correct? I have an hdmi cord going from tv to the dvr receiver. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have a swm system or legacy system?

Not sure what either swm or legacy system are? But I am almost thinking the receiver is the problem. I switched that tv with one of my newer Genie boxes & it worked like a gem. So I kind of think that the receiver has quit working?

If you have a genie then you have a swm system. The cable gets connected to satellite in 1

Thanks for all your help nabukl, but sorry to say I am still having the same issues on the tv I moved that HR22-100 receiver to. I guess I am gonna see if I can replace that receiver for another little Genie box. Do you happen to know if I can do that thru a AT&T store, or if I have to have DTV come to my house as a service call?

You can't get DirecTV equipment at a store, I would never replace an hddvr with a mini. It sounds like the dvr is shutting off before it completes the boot up process. Was your other tv connected to this receiver before getting a new tv?

DTV replaces defective receivers for $20 shipping and since the HR22 is so old you will get an HR24 you need to call to replace it. Getting a mini will start a new 2 year contract.

Hi All......just got off the phone with DTV. I will be receiving a replacement receiver at no cost for that, as well as the shipping. Plus, no 2 yr contract on that. I just need to take the old one to FedEx and they will return it at no charge to me. Supposed to receive the new one by Monday!!! So if this all ends up being true, it will be fantastic!!! Thanks again for all your help and advice. Have a great weekend!!

Don't bother the HR22 is no longer returnable.  Remove the access card and keep it for a least 30 days in case DTV sends an envelope to return it, the HR22 goes to an ewaste center or go to this website to get a shipping label to send it to them.
